The LEAD (Learn, Excel, Achieve, Develop) Field Engineer Development Program is a strategic, accelerated three and half year development program designed for recent engineering graduates seeking a career in Field Engineering. Through structured technical training, field experience, competency-based progression, coaching, and professional development, participants build the skills and experience required to perform in some of the most demanding operating environments in the energy industry. This program combines classroom learning, field execution, mentoring, and real-world customer operations to accelerate readiness for future technical and operational leadership opportunities.
As a LEAD Field Engineer, you will develop technical expertise by working alongside experienced engineers while supporting critical customer operations around the world. You will progress through defined competency stages that build capability, confidence, leadership skills, and operational readiness.
Over the three-and-a-half-year program, you will:
- Participate in structured technical bootcamps, on-the-job training, and competency-based development
- Execute field operations alongside experienced engineers in live operating environments
- Deploy, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain technical equipment and services
- Apply procedures and make decisions in dynamic, high-pressure situations
- Support customers and field crews during critical operations
- Coordinate with operational teams, service delivery personnel, and customers to ensure successful execution of work
- Develop problem-solving skills through hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and system-level challenges
- Gain experience across multiple operational environments through travel and field assignments
- Participate in mentoring, job shadowing, cross-functional rotations, and developmental projects
- Progress through defined Field Engineer competency levels based on demonstrated capability, performance, and safety leadership
- Complete a capstone project and all required technical and professional milestones required for program graduation
- This role includes significant domestic and international travel, rotational schedules, non-standard work hours, and extended assignments at customer locations. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in unpredictable environments where safety, execution, and customer impact are paramount.

To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (all disciplines) within the previous 12 months
- Have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 (or equivalent)
- Be fluent in written and spoken English, with excellent communication skills
- Demonstrate a strong interest in hands-on technical work and field operations
- Be willing to travel extensively and work rotational schedules
- Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes unpredictable environments
- Possess strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Demonstrate leadership potential, learning agility, and a strong safety mindset
- Be motivated to continuously develop technical expertise and professional capabilities

The pay range/scale displayed above represents Baker Hughes’ good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position at the time of this posting and applies to the possible locations for this position. Baker Hughes will issue a non-bias competitive offer; the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hires, full-time salaries in some U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. Where an applicant will ultimately fall within the pay range/scale depends on a variety of factors, including, for example, geographic work location, skillset, qualifications, internal pay alignment, level of experience, and demonstrated performance over time.
