As a Senior Application Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader supporting critical offshore production chemical programs for key customer accounts in Guyana. This role requires extensive expertise in offshore chemical treatment applications, production optimization, troubleshooting, and customer relationship management. The successful candidate will be expected to operate independently from day one, providing subject matter expertise while delivering exceptional service to one of Baker Hughes' most strategic customers. The role will be based in Georgetown, Guyana, with regular interaction at customer locations and offshore assets.

As the Senior Application Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Serving as the technical focal point for offshore production chemical programs supporting key customer assets in Guyana.
  • Delivering technical expertise in production chemistry, chemical treatment optimization, and asset performance improvement.
  • Designing and optimizing chemical treatment programs for corrosion, paraffin, asphaltene, and flow assurance challenges.
  • Leading troubleshooting activities across production, separation, and water treatment systems.
  • Conducting field evaluations, system reviews, and root cause investigations to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Building trusted relationships with customer stakeholders and providing technical recommendations that drive operational value.
  • Supporting offshore operations through site visits and rotational assignments as required.
  • Collaborating with Commercial, Technology, and Service Delivery teams to resolve complex customer challenges.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert while mentoring colleagues and sharing best practices across the organization.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Have 10+ years of experience supporting upstream production chemicals and offshore operations.
  • Demonstrate expertise in production chemistry, including corrosion inhibition, paraffin control, asphaltene management, and subsea chemical applications.
  • Have strong troubleshooting experience across production systems, separation processes, and water treatment operations.
  • Be capable of operating independently in a customer-facing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Possess excellent communication, presentation, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Be willing and able to support offshore rotational assignments and travel as required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to influence customers through technical credibility and value-driven solutions.

  • The position includes significant customer interaction and time spent supporting customer operations.
  • Offshore travel and rotational assignments may be required, including periodic 28/28 rotations.
