Responsibilities

The Civil Engineer will support Barrow Wise's Rail  project and perform the following duties:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement business-class rail project solutions
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new business-class cars and associated subcomponents and systems
  • Conduct feasibility studies and assessments to ensure project viability
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including specifications, CAD drawings, and reports
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates to stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and propose innovative solutions
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Work remotely and travel to California at least 4 times annually

 

An ideal candidate has the following:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
  • Proven ten years of rail infrastructure experience and knowledge of the FRA/DOT, Amtrak, or WMATA
  • Experience developing and optimizing designs for trains, tracks, bridges, and stations to enhance safety and efficiency, overseeing large-scale rail projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards, and implementing advanced signaling and communication systems that streamline operations and improve safety protocols
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools
  • Track record of being highly organized and self-motivated
