The Mechanical Engineer will perform a variety of mechanical design duties for the global Equipment and Automation (E&A) product range, which includes the design of mechanical components and subsystems of automated machinery under the guidance of engineering personnel to meet customer and market requirements.
- Working from concepts created in 3D CAD, sketches, or verbal description, create CAD models and other documentation to fulfill design requirements using SolidWorks.
- Prepare and maintain bills of material from CAD assemblies, with due consideration for form fit and function, manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Products, using Excel and Word, to document or analyze data, to prepare reports.
- Create assembly drawings and dimensioned detail drawings from CAD models that are compliant to Afinitas company standards.
- Familiar with typical manufacturing methods for low-cost solutions while meeting design intent.
- Make and properly document revisions to designs and manufacturing drawings.
- Work with external suppliers to properly specify standard commercial parts and custom manufactured parts.
- Participate in design analysis and cost reduction efforts. Contribute to conceptual design meetings.
- Support and collaborate with other departments; assist with manufacturing and procurement opportunities; assist manufacturing team with interpretation of mechanical drawings and other related engineering documentation.
- Assist customers, field service personnel, customer service, and sales when questions arise in areas of assigned product responsibility.
Requirements
~1 min read- Engineering Degree or Certificate and ideally 3+ years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering role, within manufacturing/ plant industries.
- Ability to collaborate effectively, partnering across multiple departments, with a capacity for listening and absorbing different points of view.
- Ability to read, interpret and create mechanical and assembly drawings.
- Understanding the functions of machine shop and assembly practice.
- Design of Machines and Mould equipment
- Design of Pneumatic & Hydraulic Systems
- Strong Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem solving, and using troubleshooting skills independently and while interacting with various teams and teammates.
- Continuous improvement minded
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be capable of multi-tasking and have a positive attitude with an ability to be versatile and flexible.
- Strong logical and reasoning abilities.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and passion for connecting with others.
This is an office position associated with a manufacturing facility, with travel to customer plants. The employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the employer when in manufacturing areas.
