Responsibilities

  1. Patient Care
    1. Provide full-time comprehensive dental care including but not limited to diagnostic examinations, oral health education, preventative treatment including dental prophylaxis, periodontal treatment including scaling and root planing, restorations, oral surgery including simple and surgical extractions and minor alveoloplasty, urgent visits, fixed crowns, and removable prosthetics including partial and complete dentures.
    2. Determine, implement, and evaluate patient-centered treatment plans.
    3. Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records in accordance with BHCHP policy.
    4. Directly precept and educate dental student externs on clinical rotations in our clinic
    5. Patience and a flexible nondogmatic approach to providing dentistry. 
  2. Collaborative Responsibilities
    1. Actively participate in department meetings and general staff meetings.
    2. Participate in chart reviews, case reviews, and attend CME meetings on a regular basis as mandated by the appropriate State Dental Board and to maintain the highest level of clinical competence.
    3. Assist in the supervision, training, and management of dental staff.
    4. Maintain professionalism and treat all patients and fellow staff with respect and dignity.
    5. Complete required training, performance reviews, and bi-weekly timecards in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited dental school with a degree in Dentistry (DMD or DDS).
  • Fully licensed to practice Dentistry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current DEA Controlled Substance Certification and DPH Controlled Substance Registration.
  • Life support training certification (e.g. CPR, BLS, ACLS) from a course that includes a hands-on, in-person component.
  • Familiarity with Health Care for the Homeless programs is desired with a strong understanding of the complex health problems of homeless people, substance use disorder, harm reduction strategies, and the social determinants of health; Understanding of the historical and current effects of racism and xenophobia in the health care setting is desired.
  • Fluency in another language (especially Spanish and Haitian Creole, which are most reflected in our patient population) is desired. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • The compensation increases based on years of experience and ranges from $140,000 - $224,000 annually.

Benefits are prorated for part-time employees.
