At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts (BBBSEM) we believe that every child deserves to have a mentor in their corner and to ignite and defend their potential. That's why we are committed to promoting the healthy development of children through the nurturing of continuing, one-to-one friendships with caring responsible adults, supported by trained professional staff. To accomplish this we partner with schools, workplaces, and volunteers all over Eastern Massachusetts to bring our program and services closest to youth who need them. 

As a site-based facilitated coordinator, you will play a key role supporting girls-focused mentoring programs within our direct service model. You’ll lead programming designed to foster positive youth development across three core settings: High School Mentoring, Workplace Mentoring, and Group Mentoring. Working with youth from elementary through high school. This role focuses on creating a nurturing, mentor-rich environment where young people feel empowered, supported, and inspired.  

Responsibilities

Program Delivery 

  • Plan and facilitate weekly in-person programming at school and workplace partner sites, delivering curriculum that supports social-emotional learning and youth development.  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school and workplace site contacts to ensure smooth and consistent program execution.  
  • Work collaboratively with team members to cultivate and sustain partnerships with schools and organizations. 

Match Support and Case Management 

  • Recruit, assess, and match volunteer mentors (“Bigs”) with mentees (“Littles”) according to agency standards, including pre-match trainings, match introductions.
  • Support match development and guidance on child safety, healthy relationships, and program participation via regular communication (phone, email, and in-person check-ins
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of match progress, participant needs, and outcomes while adhering to agency key metrics.
  • Conduct match surveys and collect annual outcomes data to support continuous progra
  • Promote, attend and help lead match activities/events within the match community as needed. 
  • Contribute to program strategy discussions, identifying improvements and innovative approaches based on experience in the program and working with the matches first hand

Administrative and Agency Support  

  • Maintain accurate records in agency databases and track key program metrics  
  • Attend and help lead match activities and agency events as needed. 
  • Contribute to program strategy discussions, identifying improvements and innovative approaches

Intern Management 

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and supervising of interns.  
  • Provide weekly 1:1 supervision and group support, guiding professional growth and skill development.  
  • Deliver constructive feedback through observation of intern facilitation and youth engagement.  
  • Partner with other managers and academic institutions to support intern development. 

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree with 6+ months of relevant work experience, Associate's degree or two years of higher education experience with 2+ years of relevant work experience, or High School diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience 
  • Availability to work a full-time schedule. Hours may include evenings and weekends 
  • Access to reliable transportation – candidates will need to be able to attend meetings at their assigned school as well as at our Boston office 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (excel, powerpoint, etc.)  
  • Ability to communicate with professionalism, assertiveness, and empathy to large groups and individuals verbally and in writing 
  • Demonstrated comfort and ability to work with and motivate a wide variety of people, including students and professional adults, with a preference for candidates with experience in racially, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse urban and/or recent immigrant communities 
  • Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, a positive sense of humor, and a “can do” attitude. 
  • Proven organization and time management skills to complete a high volume of varied responsibilities in a fast paced setting 
  • Excellent strategic problem-solving ability with a positive, “can do” attitude 
  • Able to travel throughout Boston on any weeknight 
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of fundraising software a plus
Salary: $48,000
