The Boeing Company is seeking Mission Systems Software Chief Architect to support our proprietary Mission Systems software team in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization and compliment the Chief Software Architect role already in place on our teams.

The team is looking to hire a senior software engineer defining and integrating processes and tooling paradigms to support critical architecture development and cadence software development activities.  This role will involve orchestrating these activities the various teams through all phases of the software development life-cycle from requirements decomposition, architecture definition, software development and testing to include supplier technical oversight, integration of supplier and Boeing software and hardware, and documentation.  

The selected team member enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-program environment. He/she will support the development of solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. He/she should be adaptable to new development environments and eager to work with and learn new technologies 

Responsibilities

    Leads the Mission Systems software office as Chief Software Engineer – focusing on software process and tooling in support of product architecture and execution flows

    Partners with appropriate stakeholders to inform system definition and reviews translation of system-level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational and performance requirements and have clear traceability to design, code and test artifacts.

    Reviews completion of software system-level analyses to identify risk, issues and opportunities; leads integration and deployment of mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.

    Leads code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standard.

    Leads monitoring and reviewing test completion, verification processes and issue resolution for software systems.

    Leads review of product and process for alignment with project plans and industry standards by tracking and evaluation of internal team and supplier performance.

    Mentor and coach junior engineers in software development

Requirements

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of experience with full life-cycle software development, modeling, simulation, testing, and/or analysis using C, C++, C#, Python, Java, Ada, and/or Linux

  • 5+ years of experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

  • 5+ years of experience with Software Development Processes

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience or 22+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Experience in systems integration with systems engineering processes and procedures

  • Experience leading software related projects or technical teams

  • Strong verbal and written skills, teaming skills, technical skills, and integration skills

  • Experience with embedded software architecture/development/design

  • Experience developing mission systems software on aircraft platforms

  • Hands on experience developing on the Linux platform and Windows

  • Experience with Agile software development and related processes

  • Familiar with safety critical software development processes
