The Role: This role supports the English and School Education programme team in the implementation of programmes and contracts in compliance with British Council policies and procedures including financial admin, reporting and data collection, evaluation, operational project delivery and managing relations with delivery partners. Accountabilities: Managing self and others * Holds vendors and suppliers to account for delivering services. * Has the ability to work independently and manage work load against project deadlines. Financial support * Plan and report on project financial plans and budget expenditure and forecasting to Programme Managers and Head of English and School Education; manages smaller budgets. * Maintain clear and up-to-date records on all financial transactions as per internal and external audit requirements. Project management * Responsible for data management including timely data entry, quality assurance of data, undertaking basic analysis of monitoring data, and developing progress reports to meet needs of funders. * Supports internal compliance such as due diligence, records management, data collection and storage. Relationship and stakeholder management * Manages relationships with clients/partners/stakeholders at appropriate level. * Manages relationship with vendors and suppliers and holds them to account for delivering services. To make time for and visibly engage with learning and development related to EDI and anti-racism. Role specific knowledge and experience: Essential: * Experience of working in a supporting role on programmes or contracts. * Administrative and financial administration and reporting experience. * Good understanding of basic concepts of monitoring and evaluation, and how they are central to good project management. * Experience of working with external partners and stakeholders Language Requirements: The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required. Education: * Degree or proven experience in one of British Council’s portfolio areas (Arts, Education, English) Closing Date: Applications will close on 12 August 2026 at 21:59 UK Time You must have the legal right to work in Libya at the time of application. Important Information: * Pay Band: 4 * Remuneration: LYD 5,500 Monthly Basic. Salaries will be paid in local currency, and the net pay will be paid to the employee's USD account based on the monthly FX booking rate. * Country/Location: Tripoli, Libya * Contract Type: Indefinite (Permanent) Requirements: Please note that candidates must have the pre-existing, legal right to work in Libya. Mobility / relocation / visa sponsoring support will not be provided. British Council supports working in new ways such as hybrid working, subject to full approval by line management and conditional upon our ability to provide the appropriate level of service. This may not be appropriate for all roles but can be explored at interview.
