Teacher's Success Story Role Purpose British Council Korea is recruiting an experienced, enthusiastic, dedicated full-time Early Years teacher to join our teaching team. We are keen to appoint staff who can demonstrate good professional skills, are willing and able to learn and develop, and are good members of a team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching multi-disciplinary English, including phonics, to non-native speakers aged from 3 to 6 years old, with some experience of teaching students aged 7-10 years old Main Accountabilities The Early Years Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons that are tailored to meet a range of customer needs and learning styles. They will monitor learners’ progress, provide constructive feedback, and encourage the development of learner autonomy. In line with professional expectations, the role requires meeting teaching standards and actively engaging in ongoing professional development. The teacher will also support center operations by contributing to marketing initiatives, participating in activities, and handling teaching-related administrative tasks. Building and maintaining positive relationships with both customers and colleagues is essential, alongside a strong commitment to adhering to institutional policies on Safeguarding, Data Protection, and Health and Safety. Qualification and Experience Qualification Essentials * Applicants must have a recognised Early Years teaching qualification or be willing to gain a relevant qualification. Desirables (Below list of qualifications are UK post-2014 only. For qualifications obtained outside of the UK or pre-2014, equivalence in content and teaching practice must be proven.) * Accredited Montessori Diploma in Early Years (e.g. AMI, AMS, or MACTE) * NCFE Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education (CACHE) Level 4 * Diploma in Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Studies (Early Years Educator) * NCFE CACHE Level 4 Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy - Birth to Seven (Early Years Educator) * NCFE CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner * Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care * Pearson BTEC HNC Diploma in Advanced Practice in Early Years Education * NILE online Teaching English in Pre-Primary Education (TEPPE) (Transcripts will be requested for equivalence checking) * Recognised certificate in EFL i.e. CELTA/ Trinity TESOL (TEFLi) * Practical extension for TEPPE * PGCE Early Years + Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) * B Ed Early Years + Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) * MA Early Childhood Education * Recognised diploma in EFL i.e. DELTA/ Trinity Diploma TESOL (TEFLq) Work Experience Essentials * 2 years full-time post-qualification teaching experience in Early Years (and/or equivalent to 1,800 hours). * Experience teaching non-native speakers of English or English as an Additional Language (EAL). * Experience teaching phonics. Desirables Experience teaching: * Early Years Foundation Stage for England (EYFS) * International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) * Primary aged 6 to 10 Language Requirements High proficiency in English i.e. CEFR level of C2/ IELTS Band 8+ in each of 4 sections of the academic module Important information * Package: From KRW 2,500,000 gross per month depending on qualifications and experience. * Housing allowance: KRW 1,000,000 (one million Korean won) gross per month * Annual Leave: Annual paid leave is 19 days. In addition, there are 14 public holidays per year. * Fares and travel: If you are recruited from outside Korea, the British Council will pay economy class air fares from your home country to Seoul at the start of contract and Seoul to your home country at the end of the successful completion of the contract. The British Council will also pay for the same incoming and outgoing air fare for spouse, partner, and/or children recognised via the Family Certificate and Partner Declaration Form. * Baggage allowance: If you are recruited from outside Korea, teachers are eligible for an accountable baggage allowance of £1,200 for single teachers; £2,000 for staff with accompanying partner and/or children. * Mobility allowances and support if recruited from outside Korea: Hotel stay up to 14 days, airport pick-up, Settling-in allowance * Medical insurance: British Council Teachers in Korea have the choice of either registering under the Korean National Health Insurance scheme or for private health insurance with our global provider. * Additional Information * Contract duration: 24 months (renewable) * Contract hours: 38 hours per week * Preferred start date: August 2026 * Work permit/ Right to Work: For immigration and registration purposes, new teachers must: * Hold a passport from an English-speaking country as defined by Korean immigration services: UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. * Candidates with an F-visa, of any nationality, can apply for this post if they have a university degree from one of the above-mentioned countries. * Provide an original undergraduate degree/MA certificate from one of the abovementioned English-speaking countries * Obtain an apostilled / verified criminal record check from country of nationality * Provide requested documentation to obtain local police checks from previous countries of employment, reference checks, employment checks and qualification checks over the past 10 years. * Pass a medical check-up in Korea, including an HIV and drugs test Closing date: 15 May 2026 (23.59 ICT) A connected and trusted UK in a more connected and trusted world.
