The Research Assistant will advance the lab’s goals through equipment set up, executing experimental procedures, and assisting with the daily activity of the Frost laboratory in the Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry. Responsibilities include instrument operation, lab purchasing and related administration, lab supply and sample organization and sample preparation.

Dr. Bess Frost’s research is focused on the basic neurobiology underlying brain aging and neurodegeneration, with a strong emphasis on Alzheimer's disease and related tauopathies. She and her team employ a multi-system approach to rapidly identify, test, and validate hypotheses that are relevant to human disease. Approaches include use of Drosophila, a model organism that is well suited for investigating issues of causality in disease processes, as well as iPSC-based modeling, and neuropathological and computational analyses of mouse and postmortem human brain. Major efforts in the laboratory are focused on transposable elements, nuclear and genomic architecture, and RNA biology in the context of tauopathies and brain aging.

This is a part-time 30 hour per week (80% FTE) fixed term position with a current end date of one year from hire, which may be extended based upon available funding.
