Female Western Physiotherapist – Hospital-Based Role Summary Provide evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and treatment for inpatients and outpatients within an acute hospital setting, aiming to restore movement, reduce pain, and improve functional independence. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) alongside physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitation and safe discharge planning. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive physiotherapy assessments (mobility, strength, balance, cardiopulmonary status, pain, functional abilities) for medical, surgical, orthopedic, neurological, and critical care patients. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using exercise therapy, manual therapy, mobilization, gait training, respiratory techniques, and functional task training, aligned with physician orders and hospital protocols. Provide early mobilization, bed mobility, transfer training, and walking/stair training to reduce complications such as deconditioning, pressure injuries, and thromboembolic events. Educate patients and families on diagnosis, rehabilitation goals, home exercise programs, safe mobility, and lifestyle modifications to support recovery and prevent readmission. Document assessments, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge recommendations accurately and timely in the hospital electronic medical record (EMR). Participate in MDT ward rounds, case conferences, and discharge planning to ensure coordinated, safe, and patient-centered care pathways. Adhere to infection control, patient safety, hospital policies, and professional ethical standards at all times. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy / Physical Therapy from an accredited Western university (e.g., UK, Europe, North America, Australia/New Zealand). Valid license/registration as a physiotherapist in country of qualification plus eligibility/licensure with relevant local health authority (e.g., DHA/DOH/MOH in UAE, as applicable). Minimum 2 years post-graduate clinical experience, preferably with exposure to hospital-based caseloads (acute medical/surgical, orthopedic, or neuro). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Life Support (ALS) desirable for critical care environments. Desired Skills & Competencies Strong clinical reasoning and hands-on skills across common hospital specialties, including post-operative care, respiratory physiotherapy, and complex mobility management. Excellent communication skills with diverse, multicultural patient populations; ability to explain treatment plans clearly and motivate patients to participate in therapy. Ability to work effectively within an MDT, manage a dynamic caseload, and prioritize patients based on medical acuity and discharge needs. Familiarity with EMR systems and outcome measures; commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice. Professional, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach, with particular emphasis on providing a comfortable environment for female patients. Working Conditions Full-time, hospital-based role with rostered shifts that may include weekends and public holidays depending on service needs. Primarily ward-based, with work in inpatient units (medical, surgical, ICU/HDU, orthopedics) and potential outpatient clinics as required. Frequent standing, walking, manual handling, and use of physiotherapy and mobility equipment (walkers, wheelchairs, parallel bars, exercise devices) in line with hospital safety guidelines.
