We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our team full-time in Long Island City, Queens, NY. In this key role, you will partner closely with the Chief Estimator and collaborate across teams to support the development of competitive heavy civil bids and estimates. Responsibilities include performing quantity takeoffs, maintaining and updating cost data, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, and preparing comprehensive proposals for final review. This position offers the opportunity to play a meaningful role in delivering high-quality, winning bids.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate bid pricing for heavy civil projects
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and addenda to fully understand project scope and requirements
  • Build, maintain, and update labor, material, and equipment cost data (HCSS)
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor quotations
  • Develop pricing for bids, alternates, and change orders
  • Review estimates for constructability, risk, and value-engineering opportunities
  • Support and lead proposal submissions, including design-build pursuits
  • Develop and manage bid schedules, ensuring all milestones are met
  • Maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience and 7+ years in construction overall
  • Strong understanding of contracts, bid processes, and insurance requirements
  • Experience bidding with NYC agencies and within the tri-state market
  • Design-build experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting heavy civil drawings and specifications
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with HCSS, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and/or B2W preferred
  • Familiarity with subcontractor scopes and vendor coordination
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to perform under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
