Responsibilities

An Average Day:As the Systems Administrator III (Domain & Server) you will be responsible for the comprehensive administration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure, including Microsoft Server environments and domain services. You will be involved in managing critical systems such as Active Directory, Exchange Server, DNS, and DHCP services, while also overseeing both Linux and Windows server environments to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability. You will also be responsible for system monitoring, troubleshooting complex technical issues, implementing security protocols, managing user accounts and permissions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support organizational technology needs. Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Manage the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, applications, and patch management processes.
  • Support virtualization environments (e.g., NUTANIX) to optimize resource utilization.
  • Implement security measures, including access control, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Manage storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and ensure effective backup and recovery operations.
  • Assist in system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Develop and update documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and respond to incidents to ensure timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, security, and application teams, to enhance overall infrastructure.
  • Contribute technical expertise to the design and implementation of new systems and infrastructure enhancements.

Requirements

  • As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C), we will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility or have an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
  • Will be subject to a federal background investigation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with hands-on experience in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Must hold a current 8570/8140 IAT Level II Certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
  • Advanced technical expertise in server administration, domain management, and infrastructure planning
  • Proficiency in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy in large-scale environments.
  • Strong experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.
  • Skilled in storage management, including SAN and NAS solutions, and backup/recovery operations.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience with automation tools like PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform for system configuration and management.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk for system performance monitoring.
  • Experience with Git for version control.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks, including NIST, FISMA, or DISA STIG compliance.
  • Must be able to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on diagnosing and resolving complex system issues.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $93,900.00/Yr. - USD $156,800.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
