Under supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and working in close cooperation with other study investigators, personnel, and students, the part-time data analyst and manager will be responsible for acquiring, managing, and analyzing data for a NIH-funded study seeking to understand the impact of municipal policy on the health of people who use drugs and the communities most impacted by the opioid crises in Philadelphia. Overall, we are seeking a flexible, detail-oriented, well-organized candidate who has worked with longitudinal and administrative data for policy analyses.

  • Attending regular study meetings -Attending research site in Kensington (Philadelphia) for training and onboarding
  • Assisting with the development and management of secure data storage systems
  • Ensuring project files are maintained and secured accordingly
  • Working with the study team and local government agencies to acquire administrative data, establish appropriate data sharing agreements, and obtain relevant approvals from local institutional review boards
  • Creating and managing codebooks -Performing quality assurance and data management activities in partnership with PI and Project Manager
  • Conducting data analysis and maintain logs of syntax -Contributing to internal and external progress reports to update stakeholders, funders, and data safety monitoring board
  • Contributing to the authorship of presentations, publications, technical reports, and policy briefs disseminating project research -

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Public Health, or related fields or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Commitment to the HEAL lab’s core values.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to manage a large team with different strengths, talents, and experience.

  • Well-familiarized with aspects of protection of human subjects to ensure that data are collected and maintained in accordance with all Institutional Review Board guidelines.
  • Proficiency with computer-based systems including but not limited to Word, Excel, SAS and/or R, and other analytic software

Additional Information
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $28.85 to $43.27 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
