We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Senior Worker - Ketamine to join our Liverpool service. This is an opportunity to make a real difference for people experiencing the physical, psychological and social harms associated with ketamine use.
The postholder will manage a complex caseload and provide tailored, practical support. They will deliver a range of interventions, help people engage with health and treatment services, and work closely with Recovery Coordinators, clinical colleagues and partner agencies to ensure care is joined up and responsive.
About the Role
~2 min read- Manage a specialist and complex caseload, completing holistic assessments and recovery plans that consider substance use, physical and mental health, housing, relationships, parenting and wider social needs.
- Deliver a range of evidence-informed one-to-one interventions, including motivational and psychosocial work, harm reduction, relapse prevention, recovery planning and support towards ketamine cessation.
- Build purposeful, consistent relationships with people who may have experienced barriers to engaging with treatment, health or other support services.
- Help people understand, access and navigate the health and treatment services they need, including GPs, hospital and specialist care, mental health support, detox, rehab and recovery housing.
- Provide practical support to attend appointments where appropriate, explain treatment options, make and follow up referrals, and advocate for people whose needs may otherwise be overlooked.
- Recognise ketamine-related health concerns, including bladder, bowel and renal symptoms, and ensure timely clinical escalation and referral through appropriate pathways.
- Work closely with Recovery Coordinators, CGL clinicians, GPs, specialist health services, local recovery groups, mutual aid, housing and other partners to provide joined-up care.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary risk management and safeguarding processes, ensuring concerns are recorded, shared appropriately and escalated without delay.
- Maintain accurate, timely and defensible case records; monitor progress and outcomes; and contribute to learning that improves support for people using ketamine.
We are looking for a compassionate, skilled and experienced professional who:
- Has experience of working with complex substance use needs in a harm-reduction or recovery-focused setting.
- Can manage a complex caseload, complete high-quality assessments and recovery plans, and maintain accurate, defensible case records.
- Has a sound understanding of ketamine-related harms and the importance of appropriate health assessment, clinical escalation and partnership working.
- Can deliver a range of effective, recovery-focused interventions and adapt support to the person’s strengths, needs and readiness for change.
- Can help people navigate health, treatment and recovery services, including making referrals, supporting attendance and advocating for their needs.
- Can engage people with empathy while maintaining professional boundaries, clear expectations and a focus on recovery.
- Is confident in safeguarding practice, information-sharing and multi-agency working.
