Responsibilities

  • Experience working with young people and/or young adults in a supportive capacity
  • Knowledge of substance misuse, safeguarding, and harm reduction
  • Understanding of the challenges facing young adults (18–25), particularly in education settings
  • Strong communication and partnership-working skills
  • Ability to work flexibly across community and education environments
  • Hold a full current UK Driving License with access to own transport or be able to prove the ability to travel between services efficiently.
  • Act as a named link worker for colleges and universities, providing a consistent and visible point of contact.
  • Deliver outreach and interventions within education settings, improving access and early engagement.
  • Develop and strengthen referral pathways between education providers and the service.
  • Support staff in colleges and universities to identify need and make appropriate referrals.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to education professionals on substance use, risk, and engagement approaches.
  • Build strong relationships with safeguarding leads, wellbeing teams, and student services
  • Contribute to prevention initiatives, awareness campaigns, and early help approaches across education settings.
  • Identify emerging needs, trends, and gaps in provision to inform service development

About the Role

  • Engage young adults in structured, meaningful interventions to support behaviour change and resilience
  • Deliver assessments, care planning, and a range of interventions including 1:1, group work, and harm reduction
  • Support young adults through their journey, addressing substance use and wider needs (e.g. housing, mental health, employment)
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns effectively
  • Work closely with partner agencies to provide holistic, joined-up support
  • Contribute to co-production and service development initiatives for young adults.
  • Passionate about supporting young adults to achieve positive, sustainable change
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk management for young people and adults
  • Experience working with young adults affected by substance use or related vulnerabilities
  • Confident working across multiple agencies and building relationships with education providers
  • Strong communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic environment
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising to 30 days with service)
