You'll join the New Zealand operations team, owning the day-to-day health and growth of our local business. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role at the centre of the market: you'll run and iterate local operations end to end, keep a close eye on how our product performs for riders and drivers, and act as the connective tissue between NZ and the regional Data, Marketing, Product, and Finance teams. New Zealand is a compact but fiercely competitive market, and the team is small — scope is broad, feedback loops are short, and the impact of your decisions shows up in the numbers within the week. We're also changing how the team works: AI tooling is part of the operating model, not a side experiment, so you'll be expected to use it to move faster than a team this size normally could.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • →Running day-to-day operations for the NZ market — the local operating calendar, campaigns and initiatives — and continuously analysing rider and driver behaviour to find what's working, what isn't, and what to change next
  • →Acting as the hub between local and central teams — Product, Data, Marketing, Finance, Customer Service and regional ops — translating NZ market needs into clear requirements and tracking projects through to delivery
  • →Using AI to accelerate the work: building tools and workflows into analysis, reporting, monitoring and daily execution, so a small team operates like a much bigger one

Requirements

  • [3–5]+ years in operations, strategy, consulting or a similarly analytical, execution-heavy commercial role, plus real comfort with ambiguity and broad scope — small team, you pick things up without being asked; marketplace / rideshare / delivery / e-commerce experience is a strong plus
  • Strong quantitative and commercial judgment: fluent in spreadsheets, you reason from data rather than anecdote, and you can trade off growth, cost and user experience — and explain that trade-off in one page
  • A demonstrated track record of using AI in real work — concrete workflows or tools you've built that saved time or improved decision quality, not just familiarity; prompt design, automation or light scripting is highly valued
  • Excellent written and verbal English, with the credibility to influence people who don't report to you
  • Deep familiarity with the New Zealand market — its regulatory environment, competitive landscape and consumer behaviour — is a huge plus

  • We create customer value – We strive to always create valuable experiences for our users in everything we do. Our focus is to always innovate new experiences that are safe, pleasant, and efficient.
  • We are data-driven – We are strong believers in making informed decisions, that’s why we are data-driven. We can better navigate the business landscape strategically by analyzing valuable metrics.
  • We believe in Win-win Collaboration – Success is a team sport. When we work to help our partners and colleagues win, we win, too. While keeping everyone's best interest at heart, we communicate with candor and execute with excellence in all we do.
  • We believe in integrity – Integrity is at the very core of our business. We are people who always want to do the right thing. Our intentions are sincere, we speak our minds and listen to each other.
  • We always strive to do better. That means venturing beyond our comfort zones, learning from our mistakes, and helping each other grow.
  • We believe in Diversity and Inclusion – Diversity is one of our biggest strengths. Our differences are what makes us distinct. We respect each other and believe in equal opportunities for all.

At DiDi, we believe that our differences are our biggest source of strength. That‘s why we are committed to promoting equal opportunities to all candidates and employees as an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Employment and advancement decisions at DiDi are always made based on the needs of the position and the qualifications of the candidate. We do not discriminate against any employee or applicant based on their gender, age, sexual orientation, nationality, marital status, pregnancy/maternity, disability, race, religion and beliefs, or any other status protected by applicable laws wherever we operate.

We are committed to building inclusive and diverse teams, and a workplace that is free from discrimination and harassment, because that’s how we create better products and services, make better decisions and better serve the communities we’re a part of.
