NV5 is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Irvine Civil Design team, a hub of innovation and expertise that serves a diverse range of public and private clients across Southern California. In this role, you will apply your technical skills to design and deliver high-quality solutions tailored to meet the unique challenges of variety tasks. Projects may include Public Works Capital Improvement Projects, including roadways, signing, striping, storm drain, grading, and other infrastructure improvements. 

As part of the Irvine team, you’ll also engage with local jurisdictions, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to navigate permitting processes and secure project approvals efficiently. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers, surveyors, traffic engineers, and environmental specialists, to ensure seamless project integration and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimate for various projects.
  • Review grading and drainage plans, hydrology and hydraulic reports, WQMP and SWPPP reports.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality designs that meet client and regulatory standards.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary design teams, including civil site design, structural, surveying, and geotechnical engineering teams.
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing project proposals and cost estimates.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Communicate with clients to understand project needs and expectations.
  • Actively contribute to a collaborative team environment, ensuring project success.
  • Assist clients with local, state, and federal permitting processes.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance and secure necessary approvals.
  • Travel to project sites for assessments, client meetings, and presentations as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive civil engineering design experience, preferably in roadway, grading, and drainage improvement projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with stormwater management design, grading, and utility layout.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Possession of EIT certificate is preferred with ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Valid driver’s license required

 

The pay range for this California position is $100,000- $120,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162.
