Field Organizer

The Massachusetts Voter Table (MVT), a fiscally sponsored project of Third Sector New England, Inc (TSNE) (www.tsne.org). Everyone deserves a voice in our democracy. The Massachusetts Voter Table (MVT) integrates nonpartisan voter engagement with grassroots organizing to build long-term community power. Together with our coalition of more than 40 member organizations, we work to ensure that communities of color, working-class people, new citizens, young people, and other historically underrepresented communities have the resources, representation, and power to shape the future of Massachusetts.

The Field Organizer will be responsible for various tasks focused on engaging with field staff at partner organizations to support their community engagement and capacity building. The Field Organizer should be eager, flexible, and passionate about civic engagement.

• Maintain regular contact with partner organizations by phone and email about upcoming events and deadlines.
• Plan and manage voter contact events, such as phone banks and canvasses, with local organizers and leaders.
• Build relationships with organizers and leaders of existing and prospective partner organizations.
• Communicate progress of goals to partner organizations for accountability to collective goals.
• Troubleshoot issues related to partner organizations’ usage of data, tools, and resources, such as the Voter Activation Network, Action Network, predictive dialers, and peer-to-peer texting.
• Train and manage partner organizational leaders and volunteers.
• Knock on doors and make phone calls.
• Represent MVT in selected coalitions and working groups, as assigned by the Field Director.
• Assist in organizing major projects and events, including those focused on voter equity, voter registration, and voter rights, as well as rallies, field visits, and other events, as needed.
• Provide guidance and support to MVT organizing fellows and interns, answering questions and connecting them to resources as needed.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Field Director.

• Experience working for or volunteering with a campaign or grassroots non-profit
• Experience volunteering or working for a democracy organization or activist group is valued, but not required
• Great time management and organization skills
• Ability to manage and juggle competing priorities
• Excellent listening skills and ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
• Background in managing volunteer teams, holding individuals accountable to goals, and coordinating between multiple stakeholders
• Ability to adapt in a changing and metrics-driven work environment
• Enthusiasm for community-based outreach
• A positive, solutions-oriented attitude
• Foreign language skills are highly desired, especially Spanish
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout the state; a driver's license is a plus
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
