Requirements of the Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager:
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in this state
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience preferred as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care Facility. Must have, as a minimum of six (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
- Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.
Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager:
- Supervises nursing care provided by nursing assistants, licensed vocational/practical nurses and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Interviews, recommends hires and trains employees.
- Plans, assigns and directs work.
- PCC, Point Click Care knowledge
- Demonstrates the knowledge and clinical expertise required to effectively supervise all nursing activities in the facility or the units to which assigned.
- Reviews and implements all nursing procedures and systems relative to the unit(s).
- Promotes and protects resident's rights; assists residents to make informed decisions; treats Residents with dignity and respect.
