The Professional Registered Nurse will practice at the height of their scope to provide direct care for patients and families undergoing noninvasive cardiac testing and invasive cardiovascular procedures. Care provided will include pre-procedural/appointment screening, procedural prep and recovery, and all aspects of the intra-procedural period. The Professional Registered Nurse will maintain a strong working knowledge of the physiological processes of the cardiovascular system and procedures performed in the department. Responsibilities will include patient assessment, education, and monitoring hemodynamic data. Additional responsibilities include the ability to prioritize interventions and effectively participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should possess a willingness to learn, a desire to focus on the details, and the ability to succeed in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Assesses patients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex and quickly recognizes normal parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status based on past clinical experience. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs.

Plans for care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Involves patients and families in establishing care goals.

Demonstrates competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Demonstrates initiative in remaining current on CMC policies, procedures and standards. Acts as a resource to peers.

Interventions for the attainment of care goals reflect resourceful involvement of CMC health team members. Facilitates the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed.

Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, and shows on going follow through in care delivery. Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment of care goals. Demonstrates proficiency and compliance with established practices in clinical documentation.

Demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems. Demonstrates the ability to initiate treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures based on appropriate utilization of standing orders and Adult Advanced Life Support protocols.

Collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care delivery to the CHI patient. Maintains and monitors radiation safety with Team.

Shift is 7am-5pm 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts with after hour STEMI call
Required Skills and Experience:

Graduation from accredited RN program

Current NYS licensure as a registered nurse

ACLS and BLS
Preferred Skills and Experience:

BSN

Basic knowledge of Cardiology diseases and treatment

1 year applied clinical experience as critical care or emergency room RN and/or 1 year of cardiac cath lab experience

Knowledge of medical insurance carriers and how to obtain prior authorization

Knowledge and ability to perform manual blood pressure checks
