Position Summary 

CDK is looking for a technical, execution-focused Senior Product Manager, API & Developer Experience to own and evolve a portfolio of modern API products that power integrations across the automotive retail ecosystem. 

 

This role is part of the Fortellis Marketplace & APIs team and reports to the Group Product Manager. The Senior Product Manager will be the execution owner for API product delivery, API lifecycle improvements, the developer experience on Fortellis, and day-to-day product management of CDK’s API portfolio. 

 

This role will own a portfolio of APIs and will be responsible for evolving, versioning, improving, and supporting those APIs to meet customer, partner, developer, and business needs. The role will also define requirements for new APIs that need to be built for the market and published on Fortellis for OEMs, ISVs, dealers, and internal CDK product teams. 

 

The ideal candidate is a technical product manager who enjoys working closely with engineering, understands API products and developer workflows, and can turn strategy into clear requirements, prioritized backlogs, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes. This role will work directly with India-based engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders to execute the API roadmap and help CDK deliver modern, scalable, high-quality API products. 

 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Own day-to-day product management for the portfolio of APIs, including roadmap execution, backlog prioritization, requirements, versioning, defect resolution, lifecycle management, adoption, and ongoing improvements. 

  • Act as the product owner for new APIs built for the market and published on Fortellis for OEMs, ISVs, dealers, and internal CDK product teams. 

  • Execute API roadmap priorities in partnership with the Group Product Manager, Engineering, Architecture, UX, Security, Data Platform, Product Marketing, Customer Success, Support, Professional Services, and Implementation teams. 

  • Define clear API product requirements, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, launch criteria, documentation needs, and measurable outcomes for engineering delivery. 

  • Own execution for modern APIs that modernize legacy data-sharing products and workflows, customer migration support, adoption tracking, utilization improvements, and legacy product sunset readiness. 

  • Own execution of improvements to the Async API portfolio, including customer discovery, market requirements, product gaps, performance needs, developer experience improvements, and roadmap execution required to grow adoption and revenue. 

  • Serve as a key stakeholder in the P&T API Operating Framework, helping execute API lifecycle improvements across intake, design, standards, documentation, governance, launch readiness, publishing, monetization, support, versioning, and retirement. 

  • Define and execute developer experience requirements for Fortellis APIs to improve NPS, speed to market, and operational efficiencies. 

  • Use customer feedback, developer feedback, API usage data, defect trends, support insights, operational metrics, and revenue/adoption signals to prioritize API improvements and measure outcomes. 

  • Partner with engineering teams in India to maintain delivery momentum, clarify requirements, resolve trade-offs, manage dependencies, and ensure APIs are built with quality, usability, scalability, security, privacy, observability, and supportability in mind. 

  • Support API launches and go-to-market readiness by partnering with Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Support, Professional Services, and Implementation teams on enablement, customer adoption, and issue resolution. 

 

Required Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent industry experience. 

  • 5+ years of Product Management, Technical Product Management, Product Owner, or equivalent experience in enterprise SaaS, API platforms, developer platforms, integration platforms, data products, or marketplace products. 

  • Experience owning and building API products, integrations, developer tools, data services, platform capabilities, or other technical products. 

  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, Async APIs, API gateways, API documentation, authentication/authorization, developer onboarding, API versioning, API lifecycle management, and API quality practices. 

  • Experience working directly with engineering teams to define requirements, manage backlogs, make trade-offs, resolve dependencies, and deliver technical products. 

  • Ability to translate API strategy into clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, launch plans, documentation requirements, and measurable outcomes. 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use API usage data, product analytics, customer feedback, support trends, defect data, and operational metrics to make product decisions. 

  • Experience working with globally distributed teams and cross-functional stakeholders. 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to engineering, product, business, and customer-facing teams. 

  • Ability to operate with ownership, urgency, and sound judgment in a complex product and engineering environment. 

 

Preferred Qualifications & Experience 

  • Experience with automotive retail, dealer management systems, CRM, fixed operations, retail workflows, OEM integrations, or automotive data platforms. 

  • Experience with API monetization, usage-based pricing, subscription models, packaging, commercial API products, or API marketplace models. 

  • Experience with self-service integration platforms, developer portals, app marketplaces, or integration marketplaces. 

  • Familiarity with modern data-sharing patterns, event-driven architectures, , MCPs, AI Agents, workflow automation, or AI-powered platform capabilities. 

  • Experience with Agile software development, Pragmatic Institute, SAFe, or similar product operating models.
