The selected candidate will lead the execution of various strategic initiatives, including raw material qualifications (RM Qualifications) and the transfer of production activities within Celanese’s global manufacturing network (PTR).

In this role, the Project Manager will partner with cross‑functional team members to ensure each project moves efficiently from initiation through completion. Responsibilities include delivering timely progress updates, proactively identifying potential risks, and escalating issues that require leadership attention. This position is part of a dynamic, flexible, and results‑driven global team focused on achieving productivity objectives and supporting the overall success of the business.

This role may be based at either the Florence, KY or Evansville, IN manufacturing site.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end to end execution of assigned projects, including:
    • Defining project scope and execution plans in alignment with the PTR (Production Transfer Request) or RM PMP (Raw Material Project Management) processes.
    • Planning and monitoring project timelines, milestones, and budgets.
    • Identifying and securing required resources throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Identifying projects suitable for a fast fail approach.
    • Ensuring projects are prioritized in alignment with strategic business objectives.
  • Apply established project management tools and methodologies for scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and risk assessment.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborations with key internal functions, including Product Specialists, CTG, Procurement, Business Line, Quality, and Product Stewardship.
  • Manage and resolve conflicts, ambiguities, and roadblocks that could hinder project success.
  • Support Business Line and Procurement in developing the project pipeline, including business case creation and approval.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices, templates, tools, and collaboration models, enhancing team and business performance in Productivity, MOB (Maintenance of Business), RevGen (Revenue Generation), and Cost Avoidance.
  • Manage additional project types as needed to support the EM business.
  • Influence and guide stakeholders across functions without formal authority.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (MA) or Bachelor’s degree (BA).
  • Strong influencing capabilities and the ability to guide teams without formal authority.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills; flexibility; resilience; proactivity; and a hands‑on mindset.
  • Project Management competencies and experience participating in or managing company‑wide projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to address challenges constructively within diverse teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and prioritization.
  • Good proficiency in MS Excel, including working with large and complex datasets.
  • Ability to manage complexity by filtering, organizing, and interpreting large or contradictory information sets to solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, managing uncertainty and undefined paths with confidence.
