ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing health equity and environmental justice by empowering Central California communities through services, research, advocacy, and data-driven solutions to reduce the burden of asthma.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Climate Solutions Navigator (CSN) will be responsible for performing outreach, education, engagement, and case management for CCAC’s various Climate Equity and Environmental Justice (CEEJ) programs and projects, and when appropriate, for the Comprehensive Asthma Remediation and Education Services (CARES), and the SJVAir community air monitoring network. The purpose of the Climate Solutions Navigator is to ensure that eligible households in regions outlined in program mandates are able to access government and utility incentive programs that can lead to healthier homes and cleaner transportation options. CSNs will achieve this by conducting outreach, education, community engagement, and one-on-one resident education and support in assigned regions or territories, providing guidance and assisting eligible residents in submitting applications for state and regional incentives available through applicable programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn and become proficient in topics of home and transportation electrification pros and cons including potential health benefits, state climate goals, and process from consumer perspective.
- Provide education and assist eligible residents with incentive program applications, including conducting preliminary eligibility screenings and assessing program qualifications and accessibility needs to determine program readiness.
- Enroll clients into appropriate programs and assist in program agreement completions for applicable programs.
- Facilitate or support informative and educational community workshops, presentations, and training.
- Assist clients in submitting incentive program applications, including collection of required documents and uploading to incentive program application portals.
- Connect clients and facilitate communication with affiliated partner organizations; communicate with participating partnerships regarding specific clients, as assigned.
- Help facilitate communications between applicants and program contractors; be present during home assessments as needed.
- Communicate with financial partners, as assigned.
- Provide case management and support as needed, ensuring clients receive timely follow-up from partner organizations and successful outcomes.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client communications and documents to ensure the protection of all sensitive client data, following all relevant privacy policies and procedures.
- Participate in outreach and/or tabling events as appropriate to promote CASA, EV Equity, CARES, SJV Air and other CCAC Affiliated programs.
- All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Environmental Studies, or related field preferred.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in community outreach, case management, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with community members and partner organizations.
- Experience working with diverse or underserved populations; cultural competency required.
- Familiarity with state and regional incentive programs related to clean transportation, energy efficiency, or environmental justice preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software, project management or data entry tools.
- Capable of working independently, cooperatively, and responsibly.
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Valid California Driver’s License required.
TRAVEL: Travel across the state to support events and attend meetings/trainings with partners and stakeholders, or other purposes as needed.
DRIVING AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License and applicable CA mandated auto insurance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to obtain COVID 19 and Flu vaccinations. Lift up to 20 (twenty) pounds.
AUTHORITY AND SUPERVISORY CAPACITY: Will work with Director of Environmental Programs to manage relationships with assigned partners for key climate equity and environmental justice projects and may oversee interns as needed.
ACCESS TO SENSITIVE INFORMATION: Must maintain confidentiality of personal client, staff and partner information exposed to when working in files and preparing reports.
