Principal Platform Engineer

As a Principal Platform Engineer, you will define and advance the cloud platform capabilities that enable secure, reliable, and scalable product delivery. You will partner across Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, and architecture forums to modernize legacy systems, strengthen reliability practices, improve developer experience, and shape future platform investments. You will bring hands-on depth in AWS, Kubernetes, GitOps, ArgoCD, observability, automation, and delivery tooling while mentoring engineers and raising the technical standards for how services are built, deployed, and operated. 

Key Accountabilities: 

• Define the technical vision for secure, resilient, scalable cloud platform services that improve developer productivity and customer outcomes. 

• Lead modernization of legacy infrastructure and help guide application developers from legacy software designs toward modern, service-based deployments through collaboration and coordination. 

• Establish platform reliability practices, including SLOs, observability, operational readiness, incident response, and continuous KPI improvement. 

• Raise delivery standards through safer deployments, stronger security controls, robust data protection, and disciplined asset management. 

• Improve developer experience by building effective tooling, feedback loops, and self-service capabilities that significantly increase engineering productivity. 

• Mentor engineers and influence architecture, standards, and execution across teams through principal-level technical leadership. 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

• 10+ years building and operating mission-critical platforms across DevOps, infrastructure, cloud, or software engineering. 

• Principal-level architecture judgment across scalability, reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence. 

• Advanced AWS expertise across compute, networking, storage, identity, containers, serverless, messaging, data, and observability services. 

• Deep hands-on capability with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, GitOps practices, ArgoCD and associated tooling, deployment automation, source control, and production scripting. 

• Comfort contributing to cross-functional architecture forums, shaping future platform investments through strong technical perspectives and collaborative influence. 

• Proven ability to mentor senior engineers, set durable standards, and strengthen a high-accountability platform engineering culture.
