The Barista supports the daily operations of The Village Café by providing excellent service, preparing high-quality beverages and food items, and creating a clean and welcoming environment for every guest. This role receives and fulfills customer orders, maintains café supplies and work areas, and contributes to an efficient and hospitable guest experience. The Barista works collaboratively with the café team to ensure consistent service and care throughout each shift.
Responsibilities

- →Welcome guests with warmth and attentiveness, creating a friendly and hospitable café experience.
- →Receive customer orders, accurately enter transactions, process payments, and respond to questions about menu offerings.
- →Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, and other menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
Café Operations
- →Fulfill orders accurately and efficiently, coordinating with team members during periods of high customer volume.
- →Maintain appropriate levels of ingredients, beverages, supplies, and service items throughout each shift.
- →Restock inventory and communicate low-stock items or supply needs to the Café Manager.
- →Follow established procedures for opening, operating, and closing the café as assigned.
Cleanliness & Care
- →Maintain clean and organized counters, beverage preparation areas, equipment, tables, and guest spaces.
- →Clear and clean tables promptly and ensure the café remains welcoming and ready for guests.
- →Complete routine cleaning, dishwashing, sanitation, and waste-removal responsibilities in accordance with established procedures.
Team Support
- →Work collaboratively with café team members to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
- →Assist with other café responsibilities as needed to support excellent service and the overall guest experience.
A successful candidate possesses competency and demonstrated experience in effective communication, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution.
Must possess general computer skills, including proficiency with Google Suite. Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Capable of adhering to deadlines, managing multiple diverse assignments, and executing tasks effectively. Exhibits practical time management skills and works well in team settings. Demonstrates innovation by suggesting improvements within the scope of work, anticipating needs, and creating efficient, effective processes. Self-motivated, takes ownership of tasks, and shows flexibility and adaptability in dynamic situations. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and connection. Flexible, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

A Christian in submission to the authority of the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, as evident in lifestyle. Subscribes to and is in complete agreement with the Church of the City’s Statement of Faith. Represents and upholds Church of the City’s mission, vision, and culture by demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and learning posture. The incumbent is willing to become a stakeholder of COTC within six months of hire.
