Lead Cloud & Enterprise Architect - Vice President

Citi is looking for a Lead Cloud & Enterprise Architect to shape the technical direction of complex, large-scale IT systems across a global financial institution. In this role, you will translate ambitious business challenges into robust, cloud-native architectural solutions — influencing technology strategy, mentoring engineering talent, and ensuring every system design meets the highest standards of scalability, security, and resilience. Your work will have direct impact across an entire technology function, driving outcomes that shape the performance and effectiveness of Citi's engineering landscape. ## Responsibilities * Architect and deliver end-to-end solutions for major, complex IT systems, ensuring all designs align with enterprise-wide technology blueprints and cloud-native best practices. * Design and develop scalable, resilient cloud applications from the ground up, applying modern architectural patterns across public and internal cloud platforms. * Build and maintain technology roadmaps by tracking emerging technologies and translating their potential into clear, actionable business direction. * Translate complex business problems into sound, implementable technical solutions — bridging the gap between strategic intent and engineering execution. * Identify and mitigate architectural risks related to security, design flaws, and operational resiliency, embedding robust safeguards into every solution. * Evaluate and recommend compute options, database technologies, platform configurations, and communication infrastructure to optimise system performance and strategic fit. * Mentor and guide junior architects and engineers, sharing technical expertise to raise the capability of the broader team. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence architectural decisions through expert counsel, driving consistency and excellence across the technology function. ## Required Qualifications & Skills * 13+ years of experience in IT architecture, systems design, or a closely related engineering discipline. * Hands-on expertise architecting and deploying complex solutions on public or internal cloud platforms, with a deep understanding of available compute services and design trade-offs. * Ability to design cloud-native, scalable, and resilient applications applying modern architectural patterns from inception through to production. * Solid grasp of modern database technologies and data design principles, enabling well-informed architectural choices. * Sharp analytical thinking with the ability to resolve complex, multi-dimensional technical challenges and assess risk across design, security, and operational dimensions. * Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to guide, influence, and align stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams. * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, adapt to shifting priorities, and deliver under pressure to tight deadlines. ## Beneficial Skills & Qualifications * A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. * Experience mentoring or leading technical teams in an architecture or senior engineering capacity. * Familiarity with enterprise technology governance frameworks and how architectural decisions intersect with compliance and risk management. ## What We Offer At Citi, you'll join a global technology organisation where your architectural decisions carry real weight — shaping systems that serve millions of clients worldwide.
