Responsibilities
~1 min readA guest’s first and last impressions of Reata Restaurant are made at the host stand. A host is responsible for immediately smiling and acknowledging each person in a pleasant and inviting manner as they enter the restaurant, and then thanking them upon leaving. The host helps control the flow of the restaurant through seating guests, answering the phone at the stand, validating parking tickets, assisting in retail and answering guest’s questions.
- Report to work as scheduled, on time, well-groomed and dressed in proper uniform.
- Use Open Table software and follow seating protocol as guests arrive with reservations or without.
- Take and confirm reservations over the phone; be able to communicate any special shift notes related to the day of the reservation.
- Opens the door and greets incoming guests and thanks exiting guests.
- Make sure each guest gets the valet ticket validated.
- Know table number for the entire restaurant and show guests to appropriate table.
- Ensuring “special” reservation notes get passed off to the appropriate server
- All hosts must know the brunch, lunch and dinner menus so they can take To-Go orders and answer questions about the menu.
- Responsible for flipping menus at the end of each meal period.
- Perform opening and closing hosts duties
- Practice teamwork by assisting other employees whenever needed.
- Perform any extended duties as assigned by a manager.
- Assist guest with retail merchandise including cigars and gift cards.
- Follow proper state laws regarding the sale and cigars.
