About Your Role
CMTS is seeking an experienced FF&E & Relocation Project Manager II to support major capital improvement projects throughout the Los Angeles Community College District.
This position will manage Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) and relocation activities for new construction, renovation, and swing-space projects. The Project Manager will oversee projects from programming and budgeting through procurement, installation, relocation, punch list, and final closeout.
The position will work closely with College Project Directors, architects and engineers, contractors, campus user groups, procurement teams, facilities personnel, technology teams, vendors, movers, and other project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage FF&E and relocation activities for new construction, renovation, and swing-space projects.
- Develop and manage FF&E project budgets, schedules, procurement activities, and installation plans.
- Coordinate FF&E programming, specifications, furniture layouts, quotes, purchasing, delivery, installation, and closeout.
- Develop move scopes and coordinate pre-move, move, post-move, and occupancy activities.
- Coordinate with Procurement on FF&E purchasing utilizing public-sector best-value and/or low-bid procurement processes.
- Work with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and building user groups to establish project scope, schedule, budget, and FF&E requirements.
- Identify swing-space requirements and assist with planning temporary occupancy and relocation needs.
- Determine which existing furniture and equipment can be relocated, reused, stored, or dispositioned.
- Review architectural, furniture, design, and construction drawings.
- Coordinate electrical, data, utility, infrastructure, and anchoring requirements associated with FF&E.
- Coordinate IT equipment requirements with Technology Project Managers.
- Monitor FF&E and relocation budgets and provide value-engineering recommendations when necessary.
- Coordinate furniture and equipment delivery logistics, installation schedules, access, parking, and paths of travel.
- Coordinate specialty contractors and movers required for relocation and installation activities.
- Coordinate asset tagging of new FF&E and disposition of surplus equipment.
- Maintain FF&E and relocation documentation including purchase orders, proposals, packing slips, shipping documents, invoices, freight bills, and related records.
- Manage FF&E and relocation punch-list activities and project closeout.
- Prepare and provide project status reports to project leadership.
- Attend regular project meetings and communicate progress, risks, schedule issues, and budget concerns.
Education Requirements
A four-year college degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas is required:
- Architecture
- Interior Architecture
- Interior Design
- Construction Management
- Project Management
- Planning
- Facilities Management
- Related field
In lieu of a four-year degree, 11–14 years of directly relevant experience may be considered.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of project management and coordination experience involving one or more of the following:
- Move/Relocation Management
- FF&E Project Management
- Interior Design
- Facilities Management
- Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment procurement/coordination
- Experience managing furniture and equipment procurement, installation, relocation, and closeout.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and furniture drawings.
- Knowledge of furniture and equipment specifications and procurement processes.
- Experience managing project schedules and budgets.
- Strong coordination, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with multiple project stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and user groups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
- Ability and flexibility to work at various LACCD colleges and project locations throughout the Los Angeles region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Educational facilities experience.
- Public Works construction experience.
- FF&E procurement and sourcing experience.
- Asset management experience.
- AutoCAD proficiency.
- Visio or other design-software experience.
- CID or NCIDQ/CCIDQ Interior Design certification.
- IIDA, AIA, or IFMA membership.
- LEED certification.
Salary: 150,000- 160,000
