Ultimately, the QMED supports the vessel’s mission by maintaining propulsion, auxiliary systems, and other critical machinery in optimal condition throughout voyages.
Requirements
~1 min read- Valid QMED certification issued by the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
- Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch
- Valid USCG Medical Certificate
- Basic knowledge of marine engine room operations and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor in confined spaces and under varying environmental conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to maritime regulations.
- Experience working on commercial vessels or in a similar marine engineering role.
- Familiarity with advanced diagnostic tools and computerized engine monitoring systems.
- Additional certifications such as STCW Basic Safety Training or specialized technical courses.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure during emergency situations.
Responsibilities
