The position of an experienced CNC VTL Machinist Technician is designed for a knowledgeable and skilled individual in multiple fields of machining. This position is responsible for the CNC Machining of turbine engine components to achieve specified dimensions. Our customers are worldwide leaders in the fields of aerospace and marine industry sectors of turbine engine power. The final product must conform to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
This position is a part of a large Machining Department comprised of CNC VTL, Mill, Grind and Manual Mill and VTL, Tool & Die, R&D, CNC Programming and dedicated machinist trainers. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of experienced and professional machinists that will allow for continuous interaction of techniques, skill knowledge, print reading and interpretation of technical drawings.
The position performs its primary functions in a climate-controlled and modern state-of-the-art facility.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- →Follow both written and verbal work instructions, use approved gauges and tools to inspect parts to determine required material removal using tooling, speeds, feeds and coolants. May require setting gauges to approved master gauges.
- →Operate machines to remove material to achieve required dimensions prior to the application of coatings, after application of finish coatings, or to establish part features. The loading and unloading parts are a part of the set-up.
- →Dimensional accuracy may require the use of inspection gauges, comparator, micrometers, calipers, and miscellaneous hand tools.
- →Identifies and corrects machining problems relative to tools, holders, collets and chucks.
- →Accurately record findings on provided work instructions and documentation.
- →Follow provided work instructions.
- →May be required to use heat, dry ice, or liquid nitrogen for some processes.
- →Perform finishing operations when required, such as deburring, tapping, honing, and bench work.
- →From time-to-time, participate in the training process and offer expertise in the OJT program for various levels of machinist technicians.
Requirements
~1 min read- Five plus years of experience in the operation and set-up of CNC Turret Lathe (VTL) equipment.
- Job shop type environment.
- MTO – made to order environment.
- First article experience.
- Five plus years of experience in creative problem solving on:
- Machine setups.
- CNC programming.
- Tooling.
- Fixturing.
- Firm understanding of:
- GD&T
- Critical dimensioning.
- Relationship between dimensions.
- Rework experience.
Requirements
~1 min read- Shop math (trigonometry) firm understanding.
- Technical drawing, reading and interpretation ability.
- General bench skills such as use of hand-held power tools, files, assembly, and disassembly.
- Indication of fixtures and part to reduce runout.
- Understanding how to create a flat plane for the start of machining process.
- Basic CNC Macro coding experience.
- Basic understanding of VTL work shift and G54.
- Read, write, speak, understand English, and be able to communicate with other employees.
- This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
- Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
- Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift. Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (<50 pounds) with or without hoists, slings, or carts.
- Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
