Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, it has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 50 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.

Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.

If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.

CookUnity is looking for a Staff Product Manager to own our ChefTech team and lead the direction of ChefOS Platform, the product chefs use to run their business with us.

ChefTech is the chef relationship and content layer of our operation. It covers how chefs join the platform, how their recipes become sellable products on our menus, and the tools they use every day: the Chef Portal, the chef mobile app, and the business surfaces where chefs manage their ratings, sales, payouts, and performance.

The broader mandate is ChefOS Platform. A chef's experience with us currently lives across several separate tools. This role owns the vision for bringing them into one product: a single place where a chef handles onboarding, recipes and menu, kitchen operations, and the performance and pay that come out of all of it. It's a wider vantage point than any single squad, drawing on work that runs across the operation and pulling it into one experience for the chef.

There's a larger ambition behind this. We believe the platform we build for our own chefs can become a modular, white-label product for other restaurants and food businesses. That work is greenfield. It calls for someone who can set product direction in open territory, where the problem itself still has to be defined.

This is an individual contributor role. You'll partner closely with Design and Engineering, and there's room to grow a team beneath you over time as the platform scales.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Set the roadmap and OKRs for chef onboarding, recipe and product activation, the Chef Portal, and the chef mobile app, and deliver against them each cycle.
  • Own these products end to end, from the problem through launch, adoption, and the iterations that follow.
  • Partner with Engineering and Design to build and improve the tools chefs use to run their business with us.

Know the chef deeply

  • Build a direct line to chefs through interviews, surveys, and ongoing conversation, and use it to understand their needs and where the tools fall short.
  • Anticipate what chefs need before it surfaces as a problem, and turn that understanding into product direction.
  • Spend real time with chefs using the tools, so each iteration is grounded in how they actually work.

Lead the ChefOS Platform vision

  • Define what a unified chef platform looks like and build the multi-quarter plan to get there.
  • Pull the separate chef tools into a single, connected product.
  • Make the case for platform investments and secure the resourcing to deliver them.

Shape the greenfield opportunity

  • Develop the direction for turning the platform into a modular, white-label offering for restaurants and food businesses.
  • Set strategy in areas where no precedent exists and the problem is still open.
  • Frame large, ambiguous problems in a way the rest of the organization can build against.

Prototype and keep improving how you work

  • Build prototypes to test ideas early and cheaply, before committing to a full build.
  • Use AI across your workflow (prototyping, drafting, research, analysis) and keep experimenting with it to work faster and improve the quality of your output.

Drive measurable impact

  • Own the outcomes that matter to chefs: how quickly they onboard, how smoothly their recipes reach the menu, how much of the toolset they adopt, and how well the platform supports their business.
  • Define how success will be measured before the build starts, so impact is provable.
  • Surface progress, risk, and results to senior leadership.
  • Experienced owning product at the platform or multi-product level, able to hold a wide, connected surface without losing the thread.
  • Comfortable setting direction when the problem is undefined and there's no precedent to lean on.
  • Effective at moving work across teams you don't manage, through influence and clear alignment.
  • Low-ego at the seams between your work and adjacent teams, without letting accountability blur.
  • Trusted for your judgment by senior stakeholders, and sought out when a hard problem needs framing.

Requirements

~1 min read
  • 10+ years of product management experience, including ownership of a platform or several connected product lines rather than a single feature area.
  • A track record of 0-to-1 work: taking on large, undefined problems and setting direction where there was none.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-team programs that required aligning and influencing teams you didn't own.
  • Product judgment that senior stakeholders trust as an input to strategy.
  • Ability to break down big, ambiguous problems and give others a way to reason about them.
  • Excellent communication across engineering, operations, and executive audiences, including turning cross-team conflict into decisions that hold.
  • Comfortable using AI tools in your product work, with a habit of experimenting to work faster and better.
  • This role requires regular in-person travel to the US.
  • Bonus: experience with operational, supply chain, marketplace, or B2B platform products, or packaging an internal platform into a product for external customers.
