Responsibilities
~1 min readCoreWeave's Storage team builds the file and block storage that the world's largest AI training and inference workloads run on. As a Senior Software Engineer II you will build and operate high-performance, multi-tenant distributed storage: the NFS file data path, durable block volumes and the control plane that governs them, written in Go and Rust and delivered through Kubernetes. Storage at CoreWeave sits next to the GPUs, and your work turns it from a follower of GPU growth into a multiplier of it.
About the Role
~1 min readYou will independently deliver well-scoped components across the file and block stack, working alongside senior and staff engineers who own the architecture.
- Build and improve control plane services in Go: provisioning, tenancy, quota, snapshots and lifecycle policy for file and block storage.
- Contribute to the file system data path: NFS reliability, IO performance and the small-file workloads AI pipelines depend on.
- Help deliver file and block as first-class Kubernetes citizens: CSI driver features such as dynamic provisioning, resize and snapshots.
- Improve reliability, durability and observability of the storage stack with telemetry, metrics and dashboards.
- Debug production issues in distributed, high-performance systems and turn what you find into lasting fixes.
- Work cross-functionally with compute, platform and infrastructure teams.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 6+ years building storage systems, distributed systems or infrastructure services.
- Strong hands-on production experience with distributed or networked file systems and/or block storage: NFS/POSIX semantics at scale, or block volume services with durability, snapshots and replication.
- Depth in the storage data path: IO performance, caching, small-file and metadata-heavy workloads, crash consistency and resilience under load.
- Experience with multi-tenant services or storage control planes: provisioning, tenancy, quota and data protection.
- Proficiency in a systems language: Go strongly preferred, Rust or C++ a plus.
- Experience building on Kubernetes: controllers, operators, CRDs and CSI.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Distributed or parallel storage stacks such as Ceph/RBD, Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS, WEKA or DAOS.
- Distributed databases (e.g. CockroachDB), workflow orchestration (e.g. Temporal) and gRPC/Protobuf service design.
- High-performance data path exposure: RDMA, GPUDirect Storage, RoCE, InfiniBand, SPDK.
- Storage observability and telemetry pipelines: ClickHouse, Prometheus, Grafana.
- You love building the storage layer, not just running on top of it
- You're curious about what file and block look like when built for AI scale
- You're an expert in making the IO path fast and the failure modes boring
