직무 소개
쿠팡페이는 쿠팡을 온라인 결제가 가장 편리한 플랫폼으로 만드는 것을 목표로 합니다.
Product Engineering 팀의 Senior Staff, Back-end Engineer로서, 단순한 기능 개발을 넘어 결제 핵심 도메인의 기술적 방향성을 정의하고, 대규모 트래픽을 처리하는 안정적인 핀테크 시스템을 설계·고도화하는 역할을 담당합니다.
국내 최초 원터치 결제 시스템인 “쿠페이”를 포함한 결제 핵심 서비스의 기술적 오너로서, 시스템의 안정성, 확장성, 보안, 성능 전반에 대해 책임을 집니다. 수천만 고객이 사용하는 결제 서비스를 더 빠르고 안전하게 만들기 위해 복잡한 기술적 문제를 정의하고, 근본적인 해결책을 설계 및 구현합니다.
또한 회계팀, 자금팀, Fintech 개발팀 등 다양한 유관 부서와 긴밀히 협업하며, 결제 백오피스 및 정산·대사 시스템의 아키텍처를 주도적으로 설계하고 운영 안정성을 개선합니다.

자격 요건

Backend 개발 경력 10년 이상을 보유하신 분
Java/Kotlin, Spring Framework 기반의 대규모 분산 시스템을 설계하고 운영한 경험을 보유하신 분
하나 이상의 복잡한 서비스 또는 도메인에 대해 기술적 오너십을 가지고 주도적으로 개선한 경험을 보유하신 분
성능, 안정성, 데이터 정합성, 보안을 고려한 시스템 설계 역량을 보유하신 분
모호한 문제를 구조화하고, 기술적 판단을 통해 실제 비즈니스 임팩트를 만들어낸 경험을 보유하신 분
고객 경험과 비즈니스 요구를 이해하고, 이를 기술적으로 풀어내는 데 높은 흥미와 책임감을 보유하신 분

Coupang Pay focuses on delivering innovative payment and financial services solutions to everyone who uses the Coupang app — from customers buying products on Coupang.com, to marketplace vendors, and restaurants that offer their services via Coupang Eats. We develop solutions with our latest tech innovations to serve the growing needs of Coupang’s customers in Korea and Taiwan. This includes Coupay, an online wallet with a proprietary one-touch payment capability. 

In particular, we are rapidly scaling the Wow credit card, a co-branded card that offers industry-leading rewards as part of our efforts to maximize customer values. For sellers, we are building out multiple liquidity options to help small and medium sized enterprises grow their business, using BaaS (Banking as a Service) capability.

Coupang Pay aims to make Coupang the most convenient online payment platform.

As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer on the Product Engineering team, you will go beyond feature development to define the technical direction of core payment domains and design and evolve highly reliable fintech systems that handle large-scale traffic.

As the technical owner of core payment services—including Coupay, Korea’s first one-touch payment system—you will be responsible for system stability, scalability, security, and performance end to end. You will identify complex technical challenges and design and implement fundamental solutions to make payment services used by tens of millions of customers faster and safer.

You will also work closely with cross-functional partners such as Accounting, Treasury, and other Fintech engineering teams to lead the architecture of payment back-office systems, as well as settlement and reconciliation platforms, while improving operational stability.

In addition, you will act as a key contributor in elevating the technical bar across the organization through code review, design review, and technical guidance.

Requirements

10+ years of backend engineering experience
Ability to design and operate large-scale distributed systems based on Java/Kotlin and the Spring Framework
Experience owning and proactively driving improvements for one or more complex services or domains with strong ownership
Ability to design systems with strong consideration for performance, reliability, data consistency, and security
Experience structuring ambiguous problems and making technical decisions that resulted in tangible business impact
Ability to understand customer experience and business requirements and translate them into well-architected technical solutions with a high level of ownership

Experience leading architecture design and migration in JPA- and MSA-based environments
Experience in development and operations within the Payment / Fintech domain
Experience responding to incidents, building monitoring systems, and improving SLAs in high-traffic environments
Experience handling large-scale data processing with strong guarantees around settlement and reconciliation accuracy
Experience demonstrating technical leadership in agile software development environments
Experience influencing other engineers through sound technical judgment and system design decisions

Responsibilities

Please be informed that the job applicant is required to pay the postage on the registered mail.
→In preparation for a job applicant’s request for the return of hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above, the Company shall retain the original hiring documents submitted by the job applicant for 180 days from the completion of the recruiting process. If no request is made until the end of this period, all his/her hiring documents will be destroyed immediately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.
