Role Overview A qualified Millwright is required to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of mechanical and electrical equipment used in mining and drilling operations. The role combines installation, preventative and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, breakdown response and equipment optimisation in both workshop and site environments. Key Responsibilities · Install and assemble machinery and equipment in line with engineering drawings, OEM requirements and technical specifications. · Perform preventative, corrective and condition-based maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems. · Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults on complex machinery, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems. · Maintain drilling equipment to improve availability, reliability and operational readiness. · Respond to breakdowns, support root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce recurring downtime. · Conduct inspections, testing and post-repair verification before returning equipment to service. · Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, fault codes and OEM manuals. · Manage critical spares requirements and accurately record faults, maintenance actions and repairs. · Carry out all work in line with safety, quality and legal requirements. Experience & Requirements · Trade Test Certificate: Millwright (Red Seal / recognised equivalent). · N3 Engineering Studies Certificate or higher in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering. · Grade 12 or equivalent. · Minimum 3-5 years experience as a qualified Millwright in mining, drilling, heavy engineering or a similar industrial environment. · Demonstrated fault-finding experience across mechanical and electrical systems. · Experience with breakdown response, planned maintenance and equipment installation. · Valid driver licence and ability to meet site medical requirements. Advantageous · Exposure to drill rigs and specialist drilling equipment. · Understanding of RC / percussion drilling or similar drilling systems. · Working at Heights / Fall Protection certification. · Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) training. · Competent A & B for underground environments where applicable. What Will Make You Successful · Strong technical problem solving and fault-finding ability. · Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work under pressure. · Accurate documentation and good communication with maintenance and operational teams.
