ReconCraft, a leading manufacturer of specialized marine vessels, is seeking a Buyer to join our procurement team in Clackamas, Oregan. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing components, materials, and parts necessary for the production of our high-performance vessels. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of supply chain processes, and experience in marine or industrial manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing & Procurement:
    • Research and identify reliable suppliers of parts and components for marine vessel
      production.
    • Evaluate vendor bids, quality, delivery times, and prices to ensure optimal purchasing
      decisions.
    • Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and maintain
      cost efficiency.
    • Issue and manage purchase orders for direct materials, components, and indirect goods
      using ERP systems.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the production team to ensure timely supply
      of parts without overstocking.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the continuity of supply and
      quality control.
  • Order Placement & Follow-up:
    • Place purchase orders for parts, ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules.
    • Track order statuses, manage any delays or shortages, and communicate updates to
      relevant departments.
  • Cost Control:
    • Conduct regular cost analysis and budgeting to ensure purchases remain within the
      company's financial guidelines.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing or bulk purchasing
      strategies.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and vendor agreements.
    • Generate regular reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost-saving
      achievements.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with the engineering and production teams to understand specific parts
      requirements.
    • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any supplier quality issues or
      discrepancies.

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree    
  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
    • Minimum of three (3) years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in marine or industrial manufacturing
    • Familiarity with marine parts, components, and suppliers is highly desirable
  • Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
    • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
    • Proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working Conditions:
    • Office-based role with occasional visits to the production floor or suppliers’ facilities
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
Position Pay Range
$60,000$65,000 USD
