The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track position in Adapted Physical Education (APE) and Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) at the assistant professor level, effective August 2027. The successful candidate will focus on APE courses but may also teach PETE and Kinesiology core courses, including professional preparation activity courses. Our students choose between four concentrations: Allied Health Professions, Exercise Science, Health Promotion, and Physical Education and Adapted Physical Education. Our faculty are actively involved in research and in professional organizations in their respective fields. The successful candidate will join an intellectually stimulating and innovative academic environment that embraces diversity.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Kinesiology, maintain a robust and ongoing research agenda, and mentor students at the undergraduate level. The candidate will also advise students and perform career-related service roles on and off campus for the department, college, university and professional societies. Furthermore, the candidate will also lead activities that will advance scholarly excellence in Kinesiology.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

- Adapted Physical Education specialization as well as college and K-12 teaching experience. An ability to develop a profile of extramural funding is also desirable. The candidate must demonstrate potential or proficiency in college teaching (PE and APE) as supported by teaching evaluations, if available; provide potential or evidence of scholarly achievement and demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment of working successfully with diverse student population. A documented commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service is expected. Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
