The Volleyball Operations Specialist plays an integral role in supporting the success of San Diego State University's NCAA Division I Volleyball program. Under the general supervision of the Head Women's Volleyball Coach, this position provides operational, administrative, technical, and analytical support that helps create a positive and seamless experience for student-athletes, coaches, recruits, alumni, and program supporters. The incumbent coordinates a wide range of program activities, including team and coach travel, facility scheduling, equipment and apparel coordination, recruiting support, student-athlete onboarding, fundraising initiatives, and game-day operations.
Working collaboratively with Athletics staff, campus partners, and external vendors, the Volleyball Operations Specialist serves as a key resource for the volleyball program's daily operations and special events. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a competitive Division I athletics program while supporting student-athlete success and enhancing the overall experience of the SDSU Volleyball community.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Coordinate administrative and operational functions for the volleyball program, including budgeting support, purchasing, compliance documentation, calendars, facility scheduling, and communication with campus partners.
- →Coordinate team and coach travel arrangements, including itineraries, transportation, lodging, meals, travel documentation, and expense reconciliation.
- →Support student-athlete onboarding, communication, recruiting activities, team events, alumni engagement, fundraising initiatives, and overall student-athlete experience efforts.
- →Assist with game-day operations, hosted events, clinics, seminars, and visiting team logistics while coordinating with athletics and campus partners.
- →Serve as a liaison between the volleyball program and Athletics departments, providing operational support and responding to program-related inquiries.
What We Offer
~1 min read- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of February 28, 2027, with the possibility of reappointment.
- This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Ability to travel to competitions)
- This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.
The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 450 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities listed may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Requirements
~2 min read- Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations of Division I volleyball.
- Some collegiate volleyball experience as a coach and/or player.
- Six months or more of office experience.
- Experience in fund raising and/or program marketing and/or travel experience in an office setting.
