Senior Software Engineer [604]

• →Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and applications engineers to translate functional requirements into technical specifications and production solutions
• →Lead the architecture and implementation of reliable, maintainable systems spanning simulators, quantum processor services, and supporting platform infrastructure
• →Design and build the tooling and core software used to develop, operate, and monitor our quantum processors
• →Write clean, well-documented code, and participate in design and code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability
• →Troubleshoot issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance and improve the user experience
• →Contribute throughout the software lifecycle from requirements and architecture through implementation, deployment, and production support
• →Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers

• BS or higher in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, math, or physics
• 5+ years of hands-on professional software development experience
• Strong Python software development experience and proficiency in at least one compiled or systems programming language, such as C++, Go, or Rust
• Experience with scientific computing libraries such as NumPy
• Experience contributing to open-source software projects
• Competence with cloud platforms specifically AWS
• Proficiency in database systems and SQL
• Competence with Git version control, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proficient with RESTful APIs
• Use of software testing principles and practices including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing
• Strong problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced team environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively document and communicate technical concepts

• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with performance profiling and diagnosing system issues

The base pay range for this role is:

$125,000 – 187,000 USD (New Haven)
