About the Role

Contract Duration: 6 months from the start time with high chances of renewal based on performance
Daily Rate: $1,000 per day + Superannuation 
Department: Department of Customer Service, NSW Government


The Department of Customer Service is seeking a highly skilled Senior Microsoft Platform Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of internal-facing applications built on the Microsoft Power Platform and broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

The project will follow Agile practices, with a minimum viable product (MVP) targeted within six months, leveraging Dataverse, Power BI, existing licenses, and tools already available to the team.


You will work closely with stakeholders, business teams, and technical staff to ensure requirements are effectively captured and translated into scalable, secure, and user-friendly solutions. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, proactive, and able to adapt to evolving priorities, with a “startup culture / doer” mindset to drive results independently. The applications are internal-facing and handle moderate-scale data with financial or money expenditure information, supporting key business processes.

requirements.
• You stay up to date with best practices and platform advancements.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain model‑driven and canvas apps using Power Apps.
• Create robust Power Automate flows.
• Build and optimise data models using Dataverse and Power Query.
• Develop Power BI visualisations and reports.
• Ensure solutions are scalable and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Work with stakeholders to refine requirements and adjust solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems,
or related discipline.
Experience with Copilot or other agentic solutions
• 5+ years’ experience delivering solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem.
• Proficiency in data preparation and modelling.
• Strong skills in Excel including Power Query, VBA automation, and connectors.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft governance, security, and compliance tools.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation.
