Exceptional Children’s Teacher

Davidson Charter Academy is a K–8 public charter school seeking a dedicated Exceptional Children’s (EC) Teacher to join our team!


We are looking for a caring, collaborative educator who is committed to helping students with disabilities succeed. The EC Teacher will provide individualized instruction, support access to the curriculum, and work closely with teachers and families to create a safe, nurturing learning environment.


Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver specially designed instruction aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Adapt lessons and provide accommodations and modifications to meet individual student needs.
  • Assess student strengths and needs, develop measurable IEP goals, and monitor progress.
  • Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and the IEP team.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation within established timelines.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and service providers to support student learning.
  • Build positive relationships with students and use effective classroom management and behavior support strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and needs.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.


Qualifications

  • Valid North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children appropriate to the assignment.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education.
  • Teaching experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of child development, differentiated instruction, and the IEP process.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a school team.
  • Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.


Salary & Benefits

  • Salary based on the NC Certified Teacher Salary Schedule, years of experience, and licensure status.
  • Potential 3% local supplement.
  • Employer 403(b) contribution match of up to 6%.
  • 10 PTO days per year, with unused time rolling over until the maximum accrual is reached.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Medical insurance available with an employer contribution toward premiums.
  • Employer-funded long-term and short-term disability coverage.


Pay and benefits are prorated based on start date, where applicable.
