Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.\r\nDeputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.\r\n

Summary Statement

The Delaware\r\nDepartment of Justice is seeking motivated and skilled attorneys to join the\r\nFamily Division’s Criminal & Delinquency Unit. Essential Functions

\r\n Prosecute\r\n juvenile delinquency and truancy matters\r\n Handle\r\n adult misdemeanor cases, including domestic violence offenses\r\n Prosecute\r\n juvenile sexual assault and related criminal offenses\r\n Review\r\n evidence, police reports, and case materials to determine charges and case\r\n strategy\r\n Draft\r\n motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents\r\n Conduct\r\n legal research and prepare cases for hearings and trials\r\n\r\n\r\n Negotiate\r\n plea agreements and make sentencing recommendations\r\n Collaborate\r\n with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, court personnel, and partner\r\n agencies\r\n Provide\r\n court coverage collaboratively with other attorneys in the Unit\r\n\r\n

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must be a member of the Delaware Bar and\r\npossess a strong knowledge of criminal law and criminal procedure. Candidates\r\nshould demonstrate excellent courtroom advocacy, legal research, and writing\r\nskills, as well as the ability to effectively manage a high-volume caseload in\r\na fast-paced environment. Criminal prosecution or litigation experience is\r\npreferred, particularly experience handling Family Court, juvenile, or domestic\r\nviolence matters.\r\nThe position requires the ability to work collaboratively with\r\nattorneys, staff, court personnel, and other stakeholders, along with strong\r\ncommunication, analytical, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.\r\nThe ideal candidate is a motivated and organized litigator who\r\nexercises sound judgment, thrives in a courtroom setting, and is committed to\r\npublic service and professional excellence. This position offers an opportunity\r\nto gain meaningful trial experience while making a direct impact on Delaware\r\ncommunities.\r\n

Conditions of Hire

\r\n Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background checks.\r\n Direct deposit of paychecks is required as a condition of hire.\r\n Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.\r\n This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16.� This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.\r\n\r\n
