In meeting this mission, Attorney General Kathy\r\nJennings is supported by teams of talented lawyers and staff in the Criminal,\r\nCivil, Family, Fraud and Consumer Protection, and Civil Rights & Public\r\nTrust Divisions. Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the\r\nAttorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and\r\npassion. Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special\r\ninvestigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and\r\nadministrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide\r\ncounsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government,\r\nprotect the abused, and much more.\r\n�\r\nDelaware's Attorney General,\r\nthe State’s chief law enforcement officer, has a broad responsibility to combat\r\ncrime, uphold civil rights, safeguard families, fight fraud, and protect\r\nconsumers in the First State.\r\n�\r\nIn the Civil Division,\r\napproximately 80 attorneys provide legal support to the executive branch\r\nagencies in the form of general counsel advice, administrative hearing\r\nprosecutions, board representation, and all stages of civil litigation.� Attorneys in the Civil Division enjoy a 37.5\r\nhour work week with true work/life balance including: a hybrid work\r\nenvironment, no billable hours, generous paid time off, affordable benefits\r\nplans, free trainings and CLE, 12 weeks paid parental leave, student loan\r\nforgiveness, pension eligibility, and a supportive collaborative work\r\nenvironment.\r\n
Summary Statement
The\r\nDepartment of Justice (“DOJ”), Civil Division, Public Safety Unit, New Castle\r\nor Kent County, seeks a Deputy Attorney General (“DAG”) to represent the Delaware\r\nState Police (“DSP”).� The DAG will have\r\nprimary responsibility for advising DSP’s Firearms Unit, including on matters\r\ninvolving the Firearm Transaction Approval Program (“FTAP”), Permit to Purchase\r\nProgram (“P2P”), and new state licensing requirements for Federal Firearms License\r\n(FFL) holders.� The DAG will also advise\r\nother areas of DSP, including the Transportation and Highway Safety Units, and\r\nprovide counsel on fiscal and information technology matters, procurement law\r\ncompliance, drafting and reviewing contracts and memorandums of understanding,\r\nand requests for proposals.\r\n�\r\nThe\r\nDAG will also work collaboratively with other DSP DAGs to provide advice and\r\nrepresentation to DSP internal affairs and trial boards.\r\n�\r\nThe\r\nDAG may have other duties related the DSHS and PSU, as well as handling\r\nadditional assignments as directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State\r\nSolicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Job Requirements
Membership\r\nin Delaware Bar is required.� \r\n�\r\nThe\r\nmost qualified candidates have some prior general counsel experience; however,\r\nsuch expertise and experiences are not required for selection. The DAG should\r\nbe able to take a proactive approach to assisting its agency clients, therefore\r\na successful candidate should have the ability to work with State agencies to\r\nidentify potential issues and assist State agencies to address such issues in\r\norder to minimize or avoid future legal action.� �The DAG should be\r\nable to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with client\r\nagencies, and should have demonstrated legal ability and a thorough knowledge\r\nof relevant laws and court rules.\r\n�\r\nThe\r\nDAG must have a willingness to travel within the state to meet departmental\r\nneeds and meeting schedules.\r\n
