Fleet Mechanic / Fleet Sr. Mechanic

Under general supervision performs skilled repair work in overhauling, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of diesel and gasoline powered automotive, stationary engine/power generation, and earth- moving construction equipment. 

• → Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on trucks, construction equipment, trailers, generators and small equipment.
• → Perform general repairs found on preventative maintenance inspections.
• → Performs visual and mechanical tests of vehicles or equipment to determine the nature and extent of repairs needed. May use electronic diagnostic equipment.
• → Adjusts, aligns, or replaces chassis parts, such as steering assemblies, brakes, wheels and axles.
• → Performs maintenance and repair of stationary engines and power generation equipment.
• → Maintains tools and equipment in proper condition by cleaning, sharpening and oiling; keeps the work area in a neat and orderly condition.
• → Perform related work as required.
• → Must be able to perform safety sensitive functions.

• Assist in training personnel in standard job methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, and safe working practices.
• Perform DOT inspections in accordance to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in repair and maintenance of gasoline/diesel vehicles, construction equipment, or power generation.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in repair and maintenance of gasoline/diesel vehicles, construction equipment or power generation. – Fleet Sr. Mechanic Only
• Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
• Must possess one Automotive or Truck ASE certification within 6 months of hire.
• Must possess DOT Inspector certification within 6 months of hire.
• Must possess one Automotive or Truck ASE certification at time of hire. – Fleet Sr. Mechanic Only
• Must possess four Automotive or Truck ASE Certifications within 6 months of hire. – Fleet Sr. Mechanic Only
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class ‘B’ Colorado Commercial Driver’s License within 6 months of hire. – Fleet Sr. Mechanic Only
• Must possess State Emissions certification within 6 months of hire. – Fleet Sr. Mechanic Only

• Mechanics tools and materials.

• Ability to perform in a lead role to other personnel. – Fleet Sr. Mechanic Only

An offer of employment may be contingent upon satisfactory results of a post-offer drug test and alcohol. Denver Water tests for the following: amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana (THC), opiates, and phencyclidine (PCP). A strength test may also be conducted due to the physical requirements of the position. This strength test may include lifting, pushing, and pulling various amounts of weight as well as crouching, squatting, and lifting one’s own body weight from various positions. If the position is deemed safety-sensitive or requires a CDL, you will be placed on the random drug and alcohol testing list, which means you may be tested if your name is selected while employed at Denver Water.
