About the Role
~1 min readBarron's is seeking a Senior Editor to spearhead and shape our coverage of ETFs, funds, and other topics across the investing landscape.
The editor must have in-depth knowledge of investing across asset classes, understand portfolio construction and asset allocation, and ensure our coverage provides highly actionable advice. Coverage will span stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, fixed income, alternatives, private assets, and portfolio strategy. The editor will guide writers in synthesizing complex investment research into clear takeaways for Barron's readers. This role involves editing timely articles to ensure voice and authority, but the successful applicant must also be able to conceptualize, assign, and polish longer, deeply reported features, Q&As, and analytical cover stories.
- Guide and Shape Coverage: Help writers use portfolio construction tools, risk metrics, and asset allocation strategies to develop original investing angles for individual investors and advisors.
- Elevate Storytelling: Ensure writers accurately and clearly explain complex financial vehicles (including actively managed ETFs, target-date funds, and alternative strategies) in simple language, highlighting why they matter for a portfolio.
- Manage the News Cycle: Assign, shape, and edit quick analytical takes and strong ideas off breaking market news, meeting urgent deadlines.
- Maintain Industry Expertise: Stay deeply familiar with major asset managers, fund flows, index providers, and U.S. market trends.
- At least five years of experience working as an editor, reporter, or analyst covering asset management, funds, or retail investing, or experience in financial services with a demonstrated ability to edit clearly and concisely.
- A strong understanding of asset allocation, fund mechanics, ETF structures, and portfolio theory.
- Experience conceptualizing enterprise features or fund analysis.
- Sharp, accurate deadline editing skills and the capability to deliver timely analysis—or an interesting angle—in clear and simple language.
- A collaborative, diplomatic approach and confidence in making fast, well-thought-out decisions while remaining calm under pressure.
Interested candidates should send a resume, a cover letter, and no more than three clips (or before-and-after examples of edited pieces) in PDF form to the hiring team by applying through the link on this job posting.
