The Purchasing Specialist is the point of contact for procurement vendors which requires a positive attitude and great customer service skills. Responsible for answering incoming calls.


The Purchasing Specialist manages aircraft and hangar consumable purchasing and procurement including, tracking purchases in the company’s computer database, creating purchase orders, tracking availability, tracking lead times, assists in updating and following procurement policies and procedures.


The Purchasing Specialist reviews electrical drawings, structural drawings and part specifications to

accurately determine the purchasing requirements for aircraft projects.


Performs research prior to all purchasing and procurement finding the lowest cost and fulfilling contractual requirements.


The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for identifying and developing relationships with key vendors, suppliers and machine shops in order to better meet project cost and lead time requirements.


The Purchasing Specialist works closely with all other departments in order to quickly and accurately support last minute or aircraft on ground scenarios.


Essential Functions

  1. Adhere to and constantly improve Standard Operating Procedures for the Purchasing department.
  2. Track all purchasing activities within company tracking databases.
  3. Create quotes and purchase orders.
  4. Purchasing and procurement.
  5. Shipping and receiving.
    1. Adherence to hazmat shipping requirements.
    2. Tracking of core return processes and tracking items with due cores.
    3. Maintain broker relations for international orders.
  6. Sending and responding to emails.
  7. General clerical duties such as filing, copying and faxing.
  8. Perform on independent judgment.
  9. Prompt and regular attendance.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will fluctuate but the primary hours are between Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm, with a 1 hour unpaid meal break. Evening and weekend hours may be required as projects demand. Employee should see supervisor for set hours.


This position will be required to respond to after-hours and weekend requests for support when Aircraft On Ground (AOG) conditions require it.


Travel


No travel is expected for this position. However some local pickups and/or deliveries may be required during normal work hours.


Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.


Preferred Education and Experience

  1. One (1) year of inventory control experience
  2. One (1) year of experience in aviation purchasing and procurement


Other Hiring Requirements

  1. Valid driver’s License.
  2. U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain/maintain a United States Security Clearance.
  3. Must hold or be able to obtain DOD Secret Level Clearance (at minimum).
  4. Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.
