Transport Manager

HIRING - Transport Manager Location: Lagos, Nigeria Our client is a fast-growing player in Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas sector. Dedicated to driving excellence, integrity, and efficient distribution of petroleum products, they operate an expansive retail network that delivers quality fuel, lubricants, and allied services to consumers across Nigeria. The company is seeking to hire a a Transport Manager who will lead the organisation's logistics and fleet operations. The role is responsible for complete fleet management, terminal/loading depot operations, driver administration, and preventative maintenance schedules for product delivery trucks/tankers to ensure maximum truck availability and minimal operational downtime. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance of all heavy-duty petroleum trucks/tankers; schedule repairs to minimize vehicle downtime. Supervise loading, dispatching, transit tracking, and unloading operations across petroleum depots/terminals in Lagos. Train, and supervise fleet drivers and motor mechanics; enforce strict compliance with defensive driving, road safety regulations, and speed limits. Implement strict fuel consumption controls, route tracking (GPS/Telematics), and product integrity measures to prevent product theft or transit shortages. Ensure all haulage vehicles maintain up-to-date licensing, roadworthiness certificates, NMDPRA haulage permits, insurance policies, and safety equipment (fire extinguishers, valves, spill kits). Negotiate terms with spare part vendors, third-party workshops, and logistics partners to optimize operational cost per kilometer. Requirements Key Requirements: B.Sc. or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 4–6 years’ hands-on experience in fleet and logistics management, specifically within heavy-duty petroleum tanker haulage in the downstream sector. Strong understanding of diesel engine maintenance, GPS tracking systems, depot loading mechanics, and road safety regulations (FRSC, NMDPRA). High operational firmness, route optimization, emergency response management, sound negotiation, and team management skills. Benefits Compensation: Negotiable
