REACH Behavioral Technician II (BT II) provides support to persons with co-occurring intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental or behavioral health needs who are admitted to the Crisis Therapeutic Home (CTH) or Transitional Home. This staff participates in development and implementation of guests’ crisis education and prevention plan and participates in facilitating daily program and individualized activities, support for habilitative and/or rehabilitative activities, therapeutic interventions, personal care/assistance, health care and other activities. BT IIs participate as part of comprehensive REACH services and collaborates with individual’s primary provider and clinical home, community crisis services, family and others.
- Provide compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs, assisting with daily living, personal care, wellness, community engagement, and skill development.
- Monitor behavioral health symptoms and provide crisis prevention, intervention, stabilization, and de-escalation support in accordance with individualized service, behavioral support, and crisis prevention plans.
- Build trusting relationships while promoting dignity, independence, choice, and confidentiality, and facilitate activities that enhance communication, coping skills, emotional regulation, and adaptive living skills.
- Maintain accurate documentation, behavioral tracking, incident reporting, and communication regarding individual progress, needs, concerns, and significant changes in health or behavior.
- Collaborate with supervisors, nursing staff, clinical leaders, families, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to support treatment goals, care planning, and successful transitions of care.

Compensation & Benefits
- Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and/or Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP)
- Must be registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or hold a valid Licensed Mental Health Professional – Resident or Supervisee.
- Use of personal transportation may be required.
- Those not currently registered must be eligible to apply and must submit their QMHP-T application upon hire, with registration obtained within 30 days, unless they are a Licensed Mental Health Professional
- Experience with crisis prevention and intervention services preferred.
- Maintain valid state appropriate driver’s license and auto insurance for personal and agency vehicles utilized for work;
- Complete within specified time the trainings as required by agency and service model.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize computer word processing and data programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Web-based data entry, etc.
- Must demonstrate capacity to effectively communicate verbally and in written form.
Pre-employment and training requirements:
- Satisfactory background check and motor vehicle report.
- Satisfactory Tuberculosis (TB) Screening.
- Current satisfactory completion of therapeutic interventions training - either Therapeutic Options of Virginia (TOVA) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) approved curricula. (Can be acquired upon hire.)
- Current satisfactory completion of Medication Administration training (provided by appropriate credentialed and certified trainer). (Can be acquired upon hire)
- Current approved certification to provide emergency CPR/First Aid
- Additional required orientation and trainings required by the organization.
