Ellie Mental Health – Portsmouth-Seacoast, New Hampshire

The Opportunity

Ellie Mental Health Portsmouth-Seacoast is seeking a licensed Clinic Practice Manager to lead and continue building our established outpatient mental health practice in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

This is an opportunity for an experienced clinician who wants more than a traditional therapy or clinical supervision role. We are looking for someone who wants to lead a clinical team, shape the culture of the practice, mentor and develop clinicians, uphold exceptional standards of client care, and take meaningful responsibility for building a practice that is clinically strong, financially sustainable, collaborative, and positioned for continued growth.

Have you ever wanted to lead and build a mental health practice without taking on the financial risk and start-up costs of ownership? This role offers meaningful leadership and autonomy combined with the infrastructure and support of an established practice.

You will work in partnership with the Franchise Owners while having substantial responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the clinic. You'll have the opportunity to focus on people, clinical quality, practice performance, community relationships, and growth while benefiting from established systems and resources for billing, credentialing, HR, payroll, marketing, technology, and administrative processes.

Why This Role Is Different

Clinicians who want to move into meaningful leadership often face two choices: remain primarily clinical with limited ability to influence how a practice operates, or assume the financial risk and administrative burden of building a private practice themselves.

We believe there is another option.

As Clinic Practice Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and develop an established and growing clinical team.

  • Shape the culture, standards, and direction of the practice.

  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and retain exceptional clinicians.

  • Provide clinical supervision and professional development.

  • Maintain a small, intentional clinical caseload.

  • Take meaningful responsibility for the operational and financial performance of the practice.

  • Build relationships within the Seacoast community and develop new referral opportunities.

  • Partner directly with the Franchise Owners on strategy, growth, and the future direction of the practice.

  • Lead with meaningful autonomy while benefiting from established administrative and operational resources.

This is not a private practice ownership position, but it is also not a low-responsibility management role. It is designed for someone who wants genuine leadership, accountability, autonomy, and the opportunity to help build something meaningful.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means building and maintaining a practice where both clients and clinicians can thrive.

We will look to the Clinic Practice Manager to help create:

  • A stable, engaged, accountable, and growing clinical team.

  • Strong clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional development.

  • Consistently high standards for clinical care, ethics, documentation, and client experience.

  • A positive workplace culture where clinicians feel both supported and accountable.

  • Healthy clinician caseloads and strong productivity.

  • Strong client access, satisfaction, and retention.

  • Effective partnership and communication between clinical leadership and Franchise Owners.

  • Responsible financial performance and sustainable practice growth.

  • Strong referral relationships and a meaningful presence within the Portsmouth-Seacoast community.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a clinically strong, grounded, and motivated leader who genuinely enjoys developing people and wants to take responsibility for the success of a mental health practice.

The ideal candidate:

  • Wants to lead, mentor, coach, and develop clinicians.

  • Has strong clinical judgment, professional boundaries, and ethical standards.

  • Communicates clearly, directly, and constructively.

  • Can hold people accountable while maintaining a supportive and positive culture.

  • Is comfortable having difficult conversations and addressing problems rather than avoiding them.

  • Values collaboration while also being comfortable making decisions.

  • Understands that a healthy practice requires excellent clinical care and sound business practices.

  • Is comfortable working with performance metrics, productivity expectations, financial information, and operational goals.

  • Is proactive, resourceful, and willing to roll up their sleeves when something needs to get done.

  • Enjoys identifying problems and developing practical solutions.

  • Values clinical autonomy while recognizing the importance of partnership and alignment with ownership.

  • Wants to build something meaningful and take pride in the results.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in an appropriate behavioral health discipline.

  • Current, unrestricted New Hampshire clinical license in good standing as an LCMHC, LICSW, or Licensed Psychologist.

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience related to the responsibilities of the position.

  • Experience in outpatient mental health, group practice, community mental health, or a comparable clinical environment.

  • Strong clinical judgment and understanding of ethical and professional standards.

  • Ability to supervise, mentor, coach, and develop clinicians.

  • Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to understand and work with clinical, operational, financial, and performance data.

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Clinic Director, Practice Manager, Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, Lead Clinician, or similar leadership role.

  • Experience supervising clinicians working toward independent licensure.

  • Experience recruiting, building, scaling, or stabilizing a clinical team.

  • Experience managing employee performance and developing high-performing teams.

  • Familiarity with outpatient mental health practice operations.

  • Experience with practice financials, productivity metrics, budgeting, or performance management.

  • Interest or experience in community partnerships, referral development, and practice growth.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $80,000–$110,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, leadership responsibilities, and clinical contribution.

  • Performance-based bonus opportunity tied to achievement of established clinic goals.

  • Additional commission opportunity based on clinical services, as applicable.

  • Health insurance.

  • 401(k).

  • Paid time off.

  • Professional leadership and growth opportunities as the practice expands.

  • Established operational and administrative infrastructure designed to allow the Clinic Practice Manager to focus on leadership, people, clinical excellence, and practice performance.
