POSITION TITLE: Estimator

ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Managing customer site visits, preparing accurate job estimates and proposals, coordinating customer opportunities, supporting revenue growth initiatives, maintaining proposal tracking and sales coordination processes, managing lead follow-up activities, and ensuring approved projects are properly transitioned through estimate approval and operational handoff procedures.
WORK SCHEDULE: This schedule reflects 8 hours per day, totaling 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Scheduling needs may vary based on business demands, and adjustments may be required as reasonably assigned.
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt W-2, Hourly – Full-Time
COMPENSATION RANGE: Compensation for this position ranges from $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, and is commensurate with experience, expertise, verified credentials, and available company budget.
BENEFITS PACKAGE: This position is eligible for standard W-2 employee benefits, including but not limited to those outlined in the Company’s official benefits package. ANTICIPATED TRAVEL: 50% of the time. You will use a company vehicle. There is no additional compensation for travel.
SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Estimator is responsible for conducting customer site visits, preparing project estimates and proposals, managing lead follow-up activities, coordinating customer opportunities, supporting revenue growth initiatives, and overseeing proposal tracking and project handoff processes to ensure projects are accurately estimated, professionally coordinated, approved efficiently, and transitioned smoothly into operational execution.
SCHEDULED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct customer site visits to evaluate project scope, site conditions, and operational requirements
- Prepare accurate project estimates, scopes of work, pricing proposals, and supporting documentation
- Coordinate customer opportunities and maintain consistent communication throughout the estimating process
- Follow up on leads, estimate requests, and pending proposals to support project conversion and revenue growth
- Track proposals, estimate statuses, approvals, and customer responses through internal systems
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and operational teams to gather pricing and project information
- Prepare estimates for projects not suitable for automated online quoting systems
- Review labor, material, subcontractor, and project-related costs to ensure accurate pricing and profitability
- Support sales coordination activities and assist with proposal revisions or customer clarification requests
- Coordinate estimate approvals and ensure complete project handoff to operational teams for execution
- Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, project documentation, and customer communications
- Participate in operational meetings, workflow coordination discussions, and project planning activities
UNSCHEDULED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to urgent estimate requests, customer inquiries, or time-sensitive proposal needs
- Conduct additional site visits or project evaluations as operational needs arise
- Assist with special projects, pricing reviews, or operational support initiatives as assigned by leadership
- Support workflow adjustments, project coordination efforts, and revenue support activities during high-volume periods
- Participate in emergency project evaluations, inspections, or customer issue resolution efforts when necessary
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of company operations, estimating functions, and business development objectives
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly walk, stand or stoop; occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 100 pounds; and regularly drive a motor vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Exposure to potentially hazardous materials, heights, and tight spaces.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in certain situations.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Strong leadership and ability to direct contractor teams
- Knowledge of residential construction methods, standards, and safety practices
- Skill in project oversight, scheduling, and contractor coordination
- Proficiency in job-site documentation and progress tracking (CompanyCam preferred)
- Ability to interpret scopes of work, drawings, and specifications
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and manage multiple contractors simultaneously
- Conflict resolution and vendor management skills
- Comfort using mobile apps and digital tools for field documentation
LEVEL OF EDUCATION / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- Certificate in Construction Estimating, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Building Construction, or a related field; or
- Associate degree or higher in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Construction Science, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, scopes of work, measurements, and material specifications.
- Basic understanding of labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and project-cost estimating.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or comparable spreadsheet tools.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and follow-up skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference may be given to candidates who also possess one or more of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Professional estimating or cost certification, such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), or comparable credential.
- Experience using construction estimating software, digital takeoff tools, bid-management platforms, or project-management software.
- Experience preparing estimates for renovations, commercial buildouts, facilities maintenance, repairs, capital improvements, or similar projects.
- Experience obtaining vendor quotes, reviewing subcontractor bids, preparing bid comparisons, and developing project budgets.
- Field construction, renovation, maintenance, or project coordination experience.
- Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, construction safety practices, and basic project scheduling.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction Management, Business Management, or related field
